Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me, and I am looking forward to helping you. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addictions Counselor in the state of Colorado. I am nationally certified as a counselor through NBCC and a Master Addictions Counselor through NAADAC. I am certified in EMDR and equine facilitated psychotherapy. I have 5 years of post-graduate experience in treating families, couples, and individuals in therapy. I have conducted group therapy as well as individual and family therapy. I received my MA in Counseling from Colorado Christian University. I am a disabled veteran and retired from serving my country in the Air Force.
I am a therapist because I felt called to serve others and offer comfort, and I am passionate about helping people reach their full potential in life as I understand how difficult it can be to live with disability and mental health/substance abuse issues. I care for all walks of life and am humbled from each person’s experiences and perspectives. There is a richness in who you are no matter what you have been through. I am here for your healing journey. I would describe myself as an open person, nonjudgmental, and accepting. I have spent the last few years in my full-time work providing therapy for offenders (in and out of prison) and individuals and families with lower socio-economic backgrounds, and I believe that every human being has value and purpose.
I work at the pace of my clients and respect your values. I am skilled in providing various therapy modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems, Person-centered, motivational interviewing, reality therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, somatic therapies, EMDR, trauma recovery, acceptance and commitment, and equine facilitated therapy to name a few. I have used these theories with the perspective that therapy needs to be effective in order to help my clients reach their goals. I believe in collaboration in setting goals and open communication as the quality of the therapeutic relationship sets the foundation for the healing process.
I specialize in trauma, depression, anxiety, relationships, and addictions. As a disabled veteran, I especially am here to help others who have served and need support. I understand the importance of needing to connect and heal as relationships are part of who we are as people. Our families, friends, the important significant others matter to us as humans. The desire to reduce suffering and process through pain is a difficult and yet courageous step in regaining our abilities to manage our emotions and become healthier and stronger. I believe in your wisdom and understand that the past informs the future, but it is not our future. There is so much of the book to be written of your life.
I am looking forward to developing the rest of your life story. You matter and you are beautiful.

Melissa is amazing! She's been very understanding and helpful during our sessions. I'm very comfortable sharing with her and appreciate her experience/resources. She's very down to earth and shows she relates to certain life situations. We have even shared a few laughs during our phone sessions, which I loved.
Melissa was immediately warm and understanding. She’s provided me, in such a short time, with incredible tools to move forward in my life in a healthy and positive way.
Melissa; wow ! I have been through counseling before but nothing like this. She is unbelievably kind and compassionate. She has sat through long call sessions with me to help me process my thoughts and reframe my thinking. Her insight through her training, as well as experiences, has proved to be invaluable. I highly recommend Melissa if you are considering her to be your counselor through your healing joirney.
Melissa was very empathetic and non-judgmental. I enjoyed working with her and found her to be very easy to talk to. I would recommend her to anyone.
Living out of town, appointments in person were always a huge challenge. I love the opportunity to be able to sit on my couch and write what I want to write and then discuss it later. I've already recommended this to a several people that would never consider therapy. Wish I'd known about this service way before now.
I am really just getting started with Melissa but I like hat she has given me resources to give me a sense of control in things I am trying to work on. I really recommend talking to her and this service. I've gone to therapy a lot of my life and this is a much needed service for anyone, even if you aren't working on something and just need an outlet.
I have recommended Melissa and Better Help to more than a dozen people.
I have found the first couple of weeks working with Melissa to be great! It feels she is in tune with what I am writing and what I need from the sessions. She has given me great insight into what I'm discussing, and allowed me to feel and think freely, and to own these thoughts and feelings. Looking forward to continuing my work with her.
Very impressed with how quickly she zones in on what’s important to me. Matter-of-fact, which I really like. I’ve gotten really good support so far and happy I signed up.
Melissa was great at understanding my needs right off the bat. She listened and offered very effective solutions for me to try. Her faith based background played a huge role in her understanding of where I was in life!
I have only been working with Melissa for a short amount of time but she wasted no time in getting to the heart of the issues that I wanted to work on and help me set actionable goals and provided resources so that I could get started right away. I love her structured style of counseling. She provides worksheets and handouts that are relevant to my situation and they work as a guide to help me introspect and understand the concepts. She also checks in with me frequently and typically responds same day -if not next day. I highly recommend Melissa!
I tried a competitor therapy app and was disappointed right away. I changed to this app just to see what it was like. My therapist engaged me right away and instead of letting me vent like so many others she truly listened. She gave me exercises right away and got fully engaged. She had me working on myself with improvements right away. I always look forward to read what she has sent me whether it's a worksheet, book, ideas, understandings, compliments, or a combination of all of the above. She is just what I needed. I am so happy I switched and got her as a therapist. I want to continue and keep improving because of her.
Melissa really does take time to analyse every message I send and offers great support and analysis which is relevant and helpful. She is always there for me in times of crisis.
She has been very supportive and attentive to my concerns and questions. She has provided me with a lot of information to learn how to deal with anxiety and stressors. She has also helped me identify strategies/methods to improve my life. And lastly, she has given me hope that things can get better. I deeply appreciate her time and that this medium exists so we can interact! Thank you.
