About Me

My goal for our therapeutic relationship is to meet you where you are now, and offer a complete willingness to journey with you to the healthier place you want to be.

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with fifteen years of experience helping people create healthy change. I named my practice Many Paths Counseling because I feel there is more than one "right" way to feel better, find answers, heal from the past, and kindle hope for the future. Clients have said I am non-judgmental, genuine, patient, and focused. Helping people navigate substance abuse issues, either their own or a loved one's, is my passion. I love working with people who are in twelve step groups yet want additional support, and with those who feel that twelve step groups haven't been a good fit.

I also enjoy helping those dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship (dating, marital, sibling, parent/child) tension, survivors of domestic violence, and those coping with chronic disease. As a social worker, I am mindful of broader oppressive factors that may bear on a person's journey in counseling. I strive to provide an affirming and therapeutic experience to all. My primary modalities are Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness. I welcome feedback, and I research and present alternatives to find what you feel will fit your needs.

I sincerely wish you well and hope you find the help you're looking for.

Melissa has been very supportive and non-judgemental. We haven't been chatting long but I feel I have made progress with her help. Looking forward to continuing to work with her.

Melissa quickly understood the roots of my challenges. She listened, asked for clarification, and proposed concrete next steps. Very glad I tried this form of counseling.
