About Me

Welcome! My name is Melissa, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas.

I would describe my style as warm and supportive. I believe that all people are striving to do the best they can as they navigate the challenges of life. Regardless of where one resides, there appears to be a longing at the core of every human being; a longing to be heard, understood, loved, valued, and accepted. I strive to assist individuals as they identify their true needs and desires, clarify goals, move out of ways of being that are not serving them, and come into a stronger awareness of themselves and the world around them.

My approach focuses on empowerment.

Through the therapeutic process, individuals are encouraged to explore feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behaviors, improve reality orientation and social skills, promote relaxation and increase self-esteem.

We all have unfinished business to address, whether it’s with parents, siblings, in-laws, children, betrayers, teachers, abusers, bullies, co-workers, ex-spouses, or people who are out of our lives that we want back in. Over time the baggage we carry around in our hearts and minds can overwhelm us.  We sometimes create behaviors to cover our pain and vulnerabilities. When people come to counseling, at a deep level they already know how to right themselves and regain balance. They look for guidance, a place for reflection, trust, and unconditional acceptance.

It still amazes me how the process can impact those open to self exploration and new levels of awareness! I have been honored by the people that have allowed me in to be a part of their process and change – to be a part of their healing.

She’s wonderful! Very caring, and knows how to talk to people in a way that feels comfortable. Which is very hard to accomplish over a text chat. I couldn’t recommend her higher.

This is my first experience with any kind of therapy. I wasn't sure what to expect but Melissa Turner has been wonderful. She helps me talk through things I am experiencing and provides me with productive techniques to improve my day-to-day. She is a great listener, very approachable and I get a great sense of support every time I leave a session.

Melissa Is a great professional and caring person. I am very thankful she is my counselor, because she makes me feel comfortable to speak my mind out.
She makes sure I’m getting the attention I need and she always have those amazing ideas on how to improve my life in general (emotionally and physically). She send a lot of worksheets for a better understanding of your feelings and emotions, that way you can better understand what you are going through. And always have recommendations of books and activities I can practice to have a better life style.
Our phone calls are always very pleasant, she is very good listener and give me advices that is really great to use in my daily life. She is teaching me how to better deal with my overwhelming emotions and she has been my to go person for every single struggle or victory.
It’s easy to say that for the first time in a long time I am making progress and I am thankful Melissa been helping me through it all.
