Hi everyone, my name is Melita Torres and I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. I have a bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation counseling with a concentration in addiction studies. I have obtained my master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. In addition, I have a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas. I also have a Chemical Dependency License (LCDC) in Texas. I have over 7 years of experience in various settings and I have worked with clients of all ages. I have several certification specialties. I have worked with individuals, couples and families seeking counseling in both online and in my private practice. I have worked in the higher education setting for years as a career counselor and job placement specialist and an advisor. I also have experience in inpatient and outpatient settings with ages 5 to 85. I enjoy working with individuals who are struggling with various life issues. I hope to assist my clients in building a life worth living that is unique to them and their preferences.
I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.
My counseling style is supportive and understanding. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic and rational-emotive counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
My therapeutic style involves helping you to arrive at insight, strategies, and tools that you can begin using immediately to make positive change in your life. We don’t just sit and talk. I love to provide you with concrete tools wherever possible and help you to have a plan for the following days before our next session, if that is the pace you would like to move at. Most importantly, we are going to make sure we are making progress on goals that you have for yourself. I will be there to guide you, encourage you, possibly even challenge you if I feel you are unknowingly allowing obstacles to stand in your way.
It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

Melita is experienced and empathetic. She knows when to listen and when to stop me and ask the right questions. I usually get defensive when talking about myself, but Melita knows how to approach me without eliciting my usual reaction.
First of all, I have to say how much I appreciate Melita as well as her knowledge and abilities. It's only been a few months since we've started conversing with each other, but she's been a great counselor so far and I actually look forward to my weekly sessions with her. Though it did take us some time in the beginning to get comfortable with each other, Melita is a quick study and has learned about me and my issues very well. I appreciate her willingness to provide counsel and advice, both when I ask for it AND when it's needed (even if I don't always like hearing it); but most of all I appreciate her ability to simply listen to me, sympathize with my problem(s), and maintain a very professional but also personal understanding of what I'm going through in life.
Melita has helped me to strengthen my marriage and sanity.
Mrs. Torres has been phenomenal so far.
M'y counselor is extremely nice and super professional while helping me every day and is constantly ready to talk to me and i am so greatful for that!!
I am very happy with my services and my provider. Both have exceeded my expectations. I will recommend both to those I know can benefit.
She is completely attentive. She asks good questions that make me think. She provides a lot of support between sessions.
Ms. Torres has been exceptional in my journey to healing and even though I’m in control of the pace she is patient and her voice is extremely comforting. Glad she was placed as my counselor she’s literally saved me from myself.
