About Me

Whether you need help dealing with a temporary or ongoing issue, just want to vent, cannot understand why you feel the way you do, or would like some help deciding where to start in approaching your life circumstances, I am here to work with you within a confidential and supportive therapeutic relationship. Together we can examine issues in your life, understand your perspectives, identify patterns and themes in your life, and learn the way you cope and interact in order to help you move towards desired changes. Changes can be worked on in a way that fits with your sense of identity or personality traits, which helps in keeping those changes overtime.

I have over ten years of experience treating adults and specialize in anxiety, difficulty adjusting to life changes, and communication/relationship issues. I am a relational therapist with a psychodynamic orientation and also incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy. In other words, I place importance on the therapeutic relationship and trust, how one relates to themselves and others, and the development of insight and deeper understanding. This also means I will brainstorm with you and give direct advice where needed if you want it or if I think you may benefit from it. I believe that the combination of a trusting relationship, discovery, understanding, and practical advice leads to the most beneficial outcome and helps in both the short and long term. Reaching out is a big step and contacting a therapist is an accomplishment and sign of progress and growth in itself; I am ready to help you take those next steps from there.

Reviews

Written by A.N. on Jun 07, 2017 after counseling with Michelle for 3 weeks on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, and self esteem

I really liked communicating with Michelle. She is non judgemental and seems very warm. Sometimes it would take her a while to respond but it felt like that was because she really took the time to think through my situation.
