About me

Thank you for stopping and taking a look at my profile! My name is Michelle and I am a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) in Nebraska. Born in Okinawa, Japan, and being a military dependent early in my life has allowed me to gain many life experiences. As an adult, I have lived in many states, but always end up back in Nebraska where I feel most at home. I believe these experiences helped develop in me an openness and sensitivity to people of varying cultures and circumstances that I may not have had otherwise.

I began my human service career working with at-risk teens over 20 years ago, and soon found myself wanting to ensure that their families were being served as well. I began working with families to provide them with tools to enhance or improve their family systems and functioning. I later became a Program Director at a large youth care agency and wanted to equip other managers with the skills to train and supervise staff to provide the best care possible for their clients. My experience has allowed me to work with professionals in Juvenile Justice and family court settings.

I currently work in a private practice and travel doing training and coaching. These became a passion for me and I began to expand my experiences in those areas. I travel extensively and train teachers, para professionals, and administrators. Both elements of my professional life, support my desire to help people be the best versions of themselves using proven, effective, and empirically based tools.

Michelle was my second counselor on BetterHelp and she immediately made me feel comfortable. She genuinely listens and gives easy to digest feedback, along with outside resources that help deepen the understanding of the work we do in the sessions.
