About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado with ten years experience working with adults, teens, and families. I have my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Naropa University, a program which blends western psychology with eastern traditions such as mindfulness practice. I have helped people with issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, and stress-management. In addition to my work as a counselor, I founded and co-led a musical group that played and traveled the world for several years. I am particularly interested in working with artists and musicians (or aspiring artists of any sort), as I have personally experienced and worked through some of the struggles that go with those pursuits. I am open and interested in working with people of all backgrounds, ages, races, sexual orientation, etc...

My approach is compassionate, non-judgmental, genuine, and client-centered. I believe that healing starts with self-compassion and understanding of your personal history. I will work with you to define your goals and then help you as an ally to meet those goals. I believe that the solutions to problems often can be found in our own experience, and that a therapist's role is to help uncover that inner wisdom while providing support along the way.

It can be hard to reach out for help. I'm so glad that you took the first step and I am really excited to work with you on your goals! I look forward to getting to know you and being there to provide support along the way.

Peter is an amazing therapist. He’s a wonderful listener, and is sure to probe first to make sure that all action items end up being things you’ve actually chosen for yourself. I always end conversations feeling more clarity & direction, even on days when I didn’t feel like talking.

I had a great experience working with Peter. He appeared to be genuinely interested in my progress, had a non-judgemental attitude and more importantly had an open mind to understanding the proclivities that came with my personality. I have certainly had a transformative experience in the 7 months during which I worked with him. Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend working with Peter.

An amazing, patient, open minded and supportive professional. Judgement is the last thing you’ll get from him.

I absolutely feel better when taking to him and I could see a progress through the therapy sessions.

He is absolutely outstanding!

After struggling with anxiety and self-esteem issues for most of my childhood and adult life, I have made more progress in the past year than ever before. Peter is an open-minded and attentive counsellor, and offers practical and creative tools and ways to grow as a person.

Peter is excellent at suggesting a variety of ways to tackle different issues that I'm struggling with. He does great at trying to figure out the source of what's going on and what works for me to try to manage that.

Peter takes time to understand you and gives you that room to open up in a nonjudgemental space. He is able to tackle multiple stressors and provide solutions to help you streamline thoughts and target areas that need to be addressed. He offers multiple methods (without overwhelming you), to help you through what you are going through and is very patient. He has helped me through a lot and I look forward to continue working with him.

Peter has been nothing short of amazing in the time I’ve been working with him. He’s always attentive to what I’ve written and quick to respond. I really like that if I don’t message for a few days, he sends a check in message. Would highly recommend Peter for sure.

Very patient and empathetic, his experience shows. Somehow he doesn't seem distant despite the fact that he is in a completely different location.

Peter is excellent and I have no regrets about seeking his support. The only reason I did not provide "Extremely satisfied" responses and an "8" for recommendations is simply that I know the online modality works better for some than others and that needs to be taken into account.

Peter is great. Honest and responsive and his support is felt strongly.

Peter Sharpe has been an excellent, down to earth, unbiased perspective for me. When I needed direction, he was able to have me see my issue in a clear and logical way and helped me work through them, especially how to help find what I needed to help myself.

Free of judgement and full of support, he always keeps in touch and is fast to respond to any problems.

A great friend and resource for those in needs. Always able to listen and then give his input. He is very intuitive and quick to understand one’s needs and habits. He has been a great person and a huge part of my support system. The best psychologist I’ve ever had.
