I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Florida. I earned both a Bachelors degree in Psychology, followed by a Masters in Science of Education with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Miami. Currently, I am pursuing my Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy at Nova Southeastern University, where I maintain a 4.0 GPA. I have been working with couples and adult individuals in private practice for over 8 years, and I have experience running anger management and domestic violence group therapy in a clinic setting. I specialize in relationship issues including infidelity, couples counseling, premarital counseling, marriage counseling, divorce, and post-divorce issues, and I treat clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, stress, anxiety, phobias, anger management, and low self-esteem.
I am also a Certified Hypnotherapist. Hypnotherapy is a wonderful tool that can be used for an array of issues including weight loss, smoking cessation, stress reduction, pain management, phobias, mending a broken heart, test anxiety and so much more. It is also very effective in helping clients learn relaxation and breathing techniques.
I work with my clients using a warm, direct, and eclectic approach by drawing from many different theoretical orientations such as cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, Gottman methods, and humanistic counseling. It is very important to me to collaborate with my clients on creating goals, and I tailor my method of treatment to each individual and couple. It is my ultimate goal to make each of my clients as comfortable as possible, so that he or she can feel at safe and at ease, and we can get great work done together.
Seeking help is not always an easy step to take, so I applaud you for beginning your journey, and I look forward to working with you!
**Please note: My hours are Monday - Friday 9AM-5PM. Rachel is kind, honest and has dispensed great advise through considered observation. I have grown and healed emotionally because of her insight.
Rachel has been a great therapist. She zeros in on where my needs are and helps guide me in my discussions. I would highly recommend her. This has been my first telemedicine psychology sessions and I’ve been very happy.
Rachel is such a wonderful counselor. She knows exactly what to say to make me feel better. No matter what issue I discuss with her, she handles it sensitively and helps give me strength to move forward.
Since I started working with Rachel, I have been able to work through some of the issues I am having with more clarity and resolve. She understands what I am going through and have every bit of confidence in her as a counselor to help through this very difficult time I am going through.
I’ve only been working with Rachel for a short time, but already I feel so much more hope that things can change for me than I did before. Rachel listens, but she also offers very insightful advice and makes me see things in a way I hadn’t thought of before. Beyond that, she offers practical concepts that can actually be applied in daily life and offers the research evidence to back it up. She also leaves you with weekly homework to make sure you are taking an active effort in your counseling, but makes it clear that all she expects is for you to come back with a story in the case of you not being able or willing to complete whatever she says. She is supportive, very knowledgeable and insightful, and I feel confident that I can make some real progress working with her. She just might be saving my relationship! I highly recommend her to anyone struggling with relationships, anxiety, unhealthy habits/beliefs, and anything of the sort. So thankful to have been matched with her.
Rachel Merlin has helped me tremendously with many things I am addressing over the last 2 years. from small life decisions to work dilemmas to family/relationship problems. She is an incredible listener and has helped me understand and think through both the practical and clinical rationale behind things. She is very intuitive to the pace at which I feel comfortable addressing and talking about things. There are people who are clearly in the right field and who’s passion around their work is so apparent. To me, this is Rachel Merlin.
After being in therapy on and off over the years, I’ve finally found someone who gets me, more importantly I am able to express myself in a judge free supportive environment.
I really appreciate Rachel's feedback and insight. She has helped me process through some challenges and her flexibility with time is great as my schedule can be pretty haphazard.
Rachel isn't judgmental and I feel I can be open and honest with her. I've never done therapy before and wonder why I waited so long! I already feel less anxiety thanks to her!
Rachel has been a big help in getting me to set and stick to boundaries. Most of the people that I know seem to expect me to be available to them 24/7. Rachel is the only person who says that I have every right to say no and to take time for myself.
Rachel is a patient, dedicated, skilled, and kind counselor. Her expertise and thoughtful approach has helped gain insight to my problems, which in turn has armed me with confidence to forge ahead, flaws and all.
Rachel is the best counselor I've ever had. She has helped me tremendously, and I am incredibly thankful for her!
Rachel is warm, engaging, and helpful. It is evident to me that she is highly qualified and genuinely cares to help people.
Starting sessions with Rachel was the best decision I ever made. She’s a straightforward supportive therapist who gets to the heart of issues.
I like Rachel. She listens well and can be very understanding. Even when I feel that I'm just rambling she can decipher key points and concentrate on those to seek the meaning behind them. I'm glad we met and look forward to communicating.
Rachel is really amazing! She was there to listen and to respond to all of the things we spoke about; it felt like speaking to a very good level headed friend. I'm very happy she was my counselor! Thank you so, so much again Rachel.
Rachel has been with me through some of the hardest times of my life and has thus been able to watch me progress and blossom into something so much more than I was before. Being my only constant, I can't thank her enough for being with me through the bad times and the good. I couldn't have done it without her.
Rachael is the best- I couldn’t ask for anyone better. I am so grateful for this service.

Rachel has been such a great support to me during the last couple of months. Guiding me through a very intense and painful period of my life she helps me to clarify things while respecting my own space and time necessary for processing and recovery. I feel like signing up to BetterHelp has been the best decision I could have done for myself recently and being matched with Rachel even strengthens this conviction.

I couldn't have asked for a better counselor over the last few months. Throughout all of our sessions thus far Rachel has been extremely professional but also makes you feel like you are talking to a friend. She has helped me manage my anxiety and as a result I have become more confident and calm with everyday experiences that may have affected me in the past. She is also quick to respond and makes sure to send out reminders to book future sessions. Thank you for your time and patience so far Rachel!
Rachel is a great listener and steers the session in a way that makes sense for me, in order for me to reach my goals.
Rachel is wonderful. I was so hesitant to start online therapy but she is able to ask the right questions to make me really dig deep to find out how and what I am truly feeling. Talking with her has given me a sense of relief and hope for a way forward.
Rachel is very understanding and non-judgemental. When my brain is scattered with anxiety and a million thoughts a minute, her insightful advice always helps me put my thoughts in order, and put things into perspective. She's helped me a lot in the last few weeks I've been working with her.

Very clear and easy to understand
So far, she has been prompt and listened and offered suggestions to my situation. I am looking forward to our continued work.
Extremely helpful!! Easy to talk to and gives great advice!! Is always there to listen and answers pretty quickly!!
Rachel has been very patient with listening to my issues and providing an unbiased view of what is happening. She also checks in when she hasn't heard from me in a while which helps because work takes over and I tend to sweep things aside. It certainly helps with all the issues that affect me
So far pretty good, I'm glad she doesn't just give me neutral responses to the things I write this her. She follows up with me when I don't write back to her for a long time. I appreciate her sincerity and with every response she leaves me with good questions for me to think about. Look forward to continuing our correspondence!
It was really good to work with Rachel. She is cheerful and positive and has good engaging ways to look at the issues. She really helped me pin point the issues bothering me and also showed me direction how to deal with them. Overall it was a revealing experience. Thank you very much.
Rachel has provided important support through a difficult time in my life and relationship. Through discussion with her, I have discovered a lot about myself, and have had a few difficult realizations along the way, which is exactly what I wanted to get out of this experience.
Rachel was very helpful in turning me around in my situation. I was really hurting due to a terrible social situation that made me lose a friend. After talking to Rachel, she really helped me see things from a different perspective and turn myself around. She helped me through my doubts and questions, and in the end, I felt 100% lighter and more confident in the decisions I made in the past. She is very caring and quick to respond. Thank you Rachel, you really turned me around. =)

Rachel is very diligent about maintaining a high quality discussion about several issues at once, thoroughly addressing each issue and has helped me focus on producing actionable steps to improve my situation.
Very level headed, which I can certainly appreciate. Working to discover root causes, and helping me to see situations differently with the right questions. Non-judgemental, and honest.
Very responsive, friendly, and helpful.
Rachel is very empathetic and offers feedback that I can act on.
Rachel has been very kind, understanding, offered helpful reflections on the information I've shared with her, and at times when I've not had time to reply or been feeling a little low, she has checked in on me to see if I'm ok and to tell me she's here if I need to talk, which has been lovely and comforting. :)
So far this has been a phenomenal experience. Rachel really cares and really takes the time to get you all information needed and to ask the questions she needs to, to understand everything.
