About Me

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for 17 years. My belief is we are all subject to roadblocks on this journey of life. The choices we make determine out path. Often we take a detour due to emotions and or events from our past. We may engage in unhealthy choices because that is how we got through life. We know we struggle but are not sure of how to break the cycles.
I feel a life worth living is a life in balance. If we put too much time and energy in one aspect of life, it is bound to cause an imbalance. To be healthy in mind, body, and soul, we need to take time to reflect and be open to other possibilities. Having a mentor, coach or collaborator helps to find our joy and happiness.
I work with anxiety, depression, loss and grief, life transitions, Eating Disorders, relationship and wellness.

I utilize cognitive-Behavior therapy to help gain perspective of the relationship between thoughts and emotions. I emphasize mindfulness because we learn to accept our thoughts but not to necessarily act on them. We learn we can tolerate difficult emotions because they are transient.
I also use a solution-focused approach when needed.

We all want to be the best version of ourselves, and my job is to collaborate with you to find your strengths and make the best possible choices.
On a personal level, I have always been involved in fitness and wellness. I love hiking in the mountains, traveling, and spending time with my children , I enjoy reading, visual and performance arts. I was widowed 6 years ago which had a strong impact on my priorities and understanding of the important things in life.

My client/therapist relationship with Renee is so great! She listens so well, and even though we communicate only through messaging, I'm amazed to say it is as effective as in-person therapy. Renee is compassionate and responds to my messages thoughtfully and with insight. And even though we have a comfortable and personal relationship in this way, she maintains her professionalism at all times. I'm really enjoying the whole experience here on BetterHelp.

Rachel has been 100% "on it" since Day 1. She really seems to "get" me, and has offered very insightful advice. I couldn't be more pleased.
