Rhemma Payne

About Me

I have learned the significant impact of rewriting cognitive and emotional scripts –understanding how the stories we tell ourselves (often to survive) may have been rooted in unhealthy thought patterns that, in my belief, no longer serve a purpose. My theoretical leaning is Cognitive-Behavioral therapy (CBT), although I am able to adapt to the needs of each individual as necessary. I am a huge believer in the power of thoughts, and tend to focus on cognitions that are not helpful, playing a role of coming alongside each person I work with to assist in their journey. My theoretical orientation leans heavily on my experience working with clients who experienced trauma. Thus, my approach is more about understanding, with no judgment or emphasis on why a person came to believe what they do, the impact those experiences and how those experiences are currently impairing their ability to thrive. I enjoy using a variety of approaches, such as handouts, visual representations (using dry erase board), etc. in sessions. I believe video sessions will be best way for this in addition to other modalities. I view the counseling experience as a collaborative effort serving alongside the client to achieve their empowerment. If my approach aligns with your needs, please reach out so we can continue this conversation. I can answer any questions you may have about my approach to therapy and we can move forward in setting up your first appointment.

I found Rhemma really helpful, not just from her being kind, caring, and compassionate, but takes time to hear what is going on in your life. Her guidance helps you not only reassess what has happened or is happening in your life, but gives you ways to take control and assess of where your thoughts are going.

Rhemma was an excellent counselor for me. I liked her approach of starting out with setting goals and then taking it from there. She would listen to me speak and give her thoughts from a very objective point of view from what she heard, which is what I found the most insightful from our conversations because it always revealed something about me that I did not know. I hope to connect with her in the future again. I would strongly recommend her to anyone struggling and looking to reflect on themselves.

Rhemma has been an excellent listener and guide in helping me to work through the problems I've been having. She also utilized some unique methods I was unfamiliar with that turned out to be very effective in helping me to reflect and shed light on the root of what's been bothering me.
