About Me

Hi, my name is Robert. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor from the state of Wisconsin. I’m most often described as warm, kind, “easy to talk to” and as having a “very calm presence.”

I take great pride in my work as a therapist and I will outwardly say that I care very much about your well-being, and will work my hardest to help you with your struggles. I’m confident in my ability to work with anyone who is ready for change.

In addition to working with Betterhelp, I also work for a private practice. In this role I generally treat depression, trauma, anxiety, anger, social difficulties, addiction, low self-esteem, and eating disorders. Previously, I've worked as a program therapist on an adolescent unit treating teens who were self-injuring, suicidal, outwardly aggressive, and/or traumatized. I’ve also worked for a state agency helping people with disabilities regain employment. I received my training working on an eating disorder inpatient unit. The bulk of my experience has been centered on depression, anxiety, trauma, abandonment, self-confidence, and eating disorders.

My counseling style is very simple: I focus on listening. I look to ask the right questions to help you clarify the issue and become “unstuck.” I find it difficult to say I subscribe fully to a brand of therapy as I have been trained in many different approaches, and I look to use that which would be most useful for you. If you have a preference for a specific approach, I would be more than happy to work with you out of that perspective. I will often direct clients to books, articles, or films that I feel would be helpful.

My interests include nature, hiking, music, astronomy, poetry, philosophy, and spirituality. I do also enjoy cheesy action flicks, SciFi, The Walking Dead, and most FBI or forensic shows.

I appreciate the courage it takes to seek help, so please understand that I am not here to judge. If you ultimately find that I’m not the therapist for you, I’m more than willing to help you find a better match.

I look forward to working with you!

Robert is amazing. He continues to help me even though the tight spots in my life are many. There have been very difficult moments, but Robert is calm and reassuring. He knows when to help me think of solutions and when to help me engage in the process. He is familiar with many modalities and knows when to use each. I would recommend Robert to anyone who wants to help themselves grow in many different areas and ways. I feel grateful to have him as a counselor.

He made sure he responded quickly and professionally. He also does phone calls and was very patient and understanding.

He is great! I was about to give up on the whole process and use if therapist. He listens, is honest and straight forward, is willing to educate himself to what he does not know and challenge my understanding by providing alternate views, links of education and experience. Thank you.
