About Me

Life's struggles are often overwhelming; especially when we feel as though we are alone or unheard. I believe counseling provides support and strength to promote health and wellness for both mind and body. A holistic approach allows for healing and growth in times of despair. Through the therapeutic process we begin to rebuild ourselves one piece at a time.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a National Certified Counselor. I received my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Marywood University. I have prior experience for nonprofit organizations providing comfort and discovering healthy solutions with my clients. I am comfortable working with a diversity of individuals. Many of my clients are young adults; a population whom I truly admire. I enjoy helping to build successful interpersonal relationships in my clients' lives including a focus on assertiveness. It is a passion of mine to assist with decision making and adjustment concerns as well. My experience has also been strong with LGBTQ+ clients. The LGBTQ+ community important to me. I have been Safe Space trained and actively participated in the Safe Space program in my last physical office space. Other formal training includes Understanding Gender Identity; Becoming a Trans-inclusive Provider coursework. I frequently attend Community events and familiarize myself with my local Community's human-service agencies. The path can be a difficult journey but is best traveled with a companion.

Ryan has been a great counsellor to me in the past 6 months.

My experience with Ryan has been amazing. I’m open with family and friends about using BetterHelp as a tool to maintain my mental health. I recommend BH to everybody who’s going through a rough patch with themselves and/or relationships.

Ryan provided me with bright perspectives on many struggles I was having and helped me assert myself in some less-than-great situations. His responses to my problems have had a continuous impact in my day-to-day life and the techniques he's taught me have been effective and give me the confidence, positivity, and comfort to move forward post-counsel.

Thanks again Ryan. Tremendously appreciate it.

Ryan was great to talk to! He immediately understood what my concerns were, and gave me lots of worksheets and exercises to help me to acknowledge and change some of my unhealthy or destructive thoughts. He always answered my emails in a decent amount of time, and he gave me options to chat with him through live messaging, phone calls, or video chats. He was easy to talk to, and our conversations were very casual, which made me way more comfortable than some stuffy/formal 'And how does that make you feel?' Counselor relationship. I would totally recommend Ryan to any friend who was going through a tough time and needed some extra help!

Ryan is like a close friend to me though we have never seen each other, because for me, writing is easier to express my feelings than speaking. He has helped me out with his great personality and experience. He never let me feel that I am getting help from a counselor, rather he gives examples of his own life and try to make the situations more easy for me to understand as a friend. Moreover, he has guided me with tons of ways to deal with my problem. Im really very happy and grateful for recommending Ryan Bishop by BetterHelp team.

Ryan helped me through my teen struggles, I have had few to none hope when I decided to get some help with BetterHelp. He immediately showed himself empathic to my situation; he had been an impartial listener, and I immediately found myself confident in talking with him about anything that was happening to me, guiding me through my adversities. I would recommend it to anyone, especially to young people like me who tend - unfortunately - to lose themselves.

Ryan has helped me so much. I've bounced around from therapist to psychologist to whatever for years, but the combination of the BetterHelp website and Ryan's expertise in counseling and his down-to-earth, empathetic personality immediately clicked with me. I would highly recommend him to anyone, especially teenagers/college level people.
