Samantha Acosta

About Me

My name is Samantha Acosta I am a Licensed independent Mental Health Practitioner(LIMHP) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist(LMFT) in the state of Nebraska, and a LMFT in the state of Utah. I started my practice in a community mental health agency in the state of Utah gaining perspective and understanding of how poverty, addiction and Trauma, can truly impact a family dynamic. I have worked with families and individuals who have experienced anxiety, depression, abuse/neglect, parenting difficulties, addiction, stress, loss, and the frustrations of life.

I would describe my approach as empathetic, warm, goal oriented, and client centered. I use Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Solution focused therapy, Motivational interviewing and EMDR to help my clients set goals and objectives, work through their traumas, and feel empowered once they have met their goals.

I earned my Bachelors Degree at Cal State University Fullerton, California in Child and Adolescent Development. Then went on to earn my Masters Degree from Argosy University, Utah in Marriage and Family Therapy.

I have been married for 12 years and we have 3 children. Both my husband and I work so navigating work and family life is always a task I can truly relate to.

I look forward to talking with you.

I love talking with Samantha! She has a very soothing voice and always allows you to finish talking. She always has great ways of encouraging better thought patterns and suggestions on how to handle situations.

I was a little hesitant to use this service, until I had my first video call with Samantha. I felt so understood and I felt we are off to a great start. She set a precedent for a great balance between setting actionable goals and listening and empathizing. I would recommend her to anyone!
