Welcome! I look forward to meeting you and discussing your interests, goals and dreams!
Here is a little bit about myself and what i can offer you. I received my masters in Art Therapy and Mental health from Springfield College in Massachusetts, and am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Art Therapist in Wisconsin. Since returning to the state i have worked with Children, Adolescents, Adults and Elderly in a variety of settings including nursing homes, hospitals, residential settings, day treatment and outpatient clinics throughout the state. The areas of concern that i have primarily worked with include; anxiety and stress- academic work or family related, coping with grief, difficult family dynamics and divorce, self harm and suicidal ideation, living with chronic pain or disability, trauma related PTSD, and lack of self esteem and motivation.
My therapeutic style involves working together to build insight, discussing strategies, and tools you can use to make positive change in your life. I help you create a plan for the time between our next session, and goals to move toward over time. we will discuss barriers to treatment, problem solve strategies and I will be there to guide you, encourage you, possibly even challenge you if I feel you are unknowingly allowing obstacles to stand in your way.
I want you to know that i feel it is very important that you feel i am a good fit. It is important to feel comfortable with your counselor and I am open to feedback at any time if i say something you disagree with or you want a change in treatment direction. it is important to feel understood, validated, and feel that you can say things that you may hold back from saying in your ordinary life. If this is the kind of relationship you would like to have with your counselor, too, then I understand you and you’ve come to the right place.

Samantha is absolutely wonderful. She is understanding, knowledgeable, and attentive my needs. She is always open to working with me on new techniques and always has wonderful ideas and suggestions when my anxiety becomes a struggle. I have worked with a number of counselors and therapists in my life and she is without a doubt the best I have ever worked with.
I've only had one video session so far, but I have had a great experience with Samantha so far. She listens, is relatable and also has given me some great suggestions for coping.

This is probably the easiest and best way for counseling. Samantha Hanson has been able to work around my busy schedule and is always available when I need to talk.
