Sarah Clausen

About Me name is Sarah and I look forward to working with you. I am a Washington state licensed mental health therapist with over ten years of experience in the field of counseling and psychology. Unfortunately, there is no magic wand to make life challenges disappear, but I do believe therapy offers a cure far more effective than magic. When you begin working on life challenges, trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues and all the other very important issues which bring people to therapy, you begin the process of healing and growing from within yourself. A good therapist will "walk alongside" you on this journey, they will offer you feedback and guidance, kindness and validation, they will question you when necessary to help you get to your goal of a more satisfying life experience. I am a therapist who values the therapeutic relationship as a strong factor in effective therapy. If you work with me, I will work hard to help you and I will be authentic and honest with you. I will help you make connections between past experiences and current struggles so that your life experience begins making more sense to you, so that you have an increased sense of control over your life and the decisions you are making. Psychology and therapy are my passions, I love being a therapist and I hold you, the client, in the highest regard and with the utmost respect. I understand that therapy requires vulnerability and do not take this act on your behalf lightly. Your therapy will be solely about you and helping you reach your goals!

Although, I have expertise in some areas, I am a "generalist" in that much of my work experience has been treating all age groups with a variety of mental health issues; this makes me skilled at tailoring your therapy to meet your unique needs. I have been working at a rural non-profit mental health agency for the last five years providing therapy services in the school setting, as well as an agency setting. Prior to that, I worked in an urban area for five years providing services to adults with severe mental illness and providing family therapy for families in the court system. I have expertise in family dynamics, child and adolescent mental health, treating trauma, treating anxiety and depression, lifespan development, parenting and marital issues. I have been a registered yoga teacher for over ten years and weave mindfulness into my treatment. My graduate degree is in clinical psychology with a specialization in marriage and family therapy.

Sarah has been wonderful. She can read my messages and respond in a way that helps me cope. Phone sessions have been great as well as messaging.
