Welcome and thank you for taking the time to read my page! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Colorado. I have over 8 years experience working with individuals, couples, and families struggling with symptoms of mental health stemming from exposure to trauma, such as abuse and neglect, domestic violence, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress Disorder (PTSD), to school and family issues. Primary duties include conducting intake evaluations of children and adolescents, assuming primary responsibility for treatment, provision of individual and family therapy, and strength-based parenting. My formal trainings include: EFT (emotion focused therapy), TFCBT (trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy), and PMT-O (parent management training). I support my clients in creating a safe space to discuss thoughts and feelings freely without fear of judgment. Come as you are, I believe that beginning where the client is at in the treatment process is key to a successful and beneficial therapeutic experience. My goal is to build upon what is working well in the client's life and collaborate with my clients to address the needs that they feel should be addressed in a way that they feel comfortable with.
I look forward to meeting and working with you!

Shawna makes sure you are heard and helps with exactly what you are needing help with. I feel like she truly cares and wants to help you with your situation. Not only does she listen to you and help figure out what's going on but also uses worksheets and quizzes to have manage your situation. I definitely feel like I have learned about myself and have become more aware of myself with her help.

She has been a huge help.

I'd highly recommend Shawna as a counselor to someone looking for someone who is very responsive, listens to the issues you are having and gives you the tools to work through your issues or problems. I initially started seeing her last year to help with anger issues, as well as delve into some of my past. She has been very helpful with this and also very responsive to the loss of a few friends the past few 6 months too. I feel like I've made some good strides and I guess the real proof is that my wife recently said how she's noticed quite a bit of change and feels closer to me lately. I feel like I still have work to do, but definitely feel like quite a bit of progress has been made. Thanks Shawna!
