Stephen Haramis

About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have been working in the field with adults and children for 11 years and 5 years as a clinical psychotherapist. I performed my graduate training in the Greater Rochester Collaborative Master of Social Work Program in Rochester, NY. During this time I completed the psychotherapy training program at Rochester Institute of Technology. I've had experience in a variety of settings including outpatient, psychiatric emergency department and residential homes. As a current provider at the University of Rochester Medical Center, I continue with post-graduate studies within the psychiatry department to enrich my own clinical knowledge.

As a therapist, I aim to provide insightful and solution-focused therapy to my clients. I offer therapy with a compassionate and non-judgmental approach. I believe in helping my clients realize their own strengths and using these strengths to navigate life's difficulties. My goal is to help you identify the core difficulties that you may face and work together to formulate a solution and enrich your understanding and coping style. My theoretical style is an eclectic approach utilizing evidence based treatments such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy.

A few things about me--when I'm not providing therapy, I enjoy spending time with my wife and my dog. I love traveling, hiking and backpacking (pretty much anything in nature!) I also enjoy putting down the psychology texts when I can to enjoy some good fiction! As I emphasize with my patients I believe in a healthy home/work balance and try to spend time with the things that enrich me as to be a more effective therapist when I return to work.
