I am licensed in Iowa as a mental health therapist and drug and alcohol counselor too. I have a full time private practice in which I provide counseling to individuals anywhere from adolescent to middle adulthood (approx. 13-65 years old). I have had a variety of counseling experience opportunities throughout my career, some of which include residential mental and behaviors health counseling, outpatient substance abuse counseling, and in two different men's correctional facilities. I also enjoy teaching psychology based classes at a college level too. I enjoy using strategies and direction based on cognitive behavioral and motivational interviewing approaches, as I feel that so much of what we do, our choices and actions, and feelings, are guided by our thoughts, and there are situations and times where we need guidance, support, and encouragement to help change and correct thinking errors and stressors to make changes for our behaviors and actions. I take the approach that our feelings aren't necessarily wrong, as we all are allowed to feel our feelings. However, there are situations, life events, and past experiences that cause us to have feelings that we may not understand or can't make sense of, which is where I can join you in your journey and help you sort out those feelings and make sense of them, learn strategies and tools to feel more in control of your thoughts and feelings, and make those new changes a regular part of your life!

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Teresa Anderson. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Teresa is very sweet and empathetic. She is good at really hearing what I say and meeting me at my level. I also appreciate that we talk about strategies or steps to take in each session. She is a wonderful support.
I’ve only been lucky enough to have one session so far but the first session was wonderful. I switched therapists a couple of times looking for that ‘connection’. I think she will be a great fit for me and my needs!
