Welcome! My name is Valery Krieg, but most of my clients call me Val. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) , and I have over 6 years of direct experience providing individual and family counseling, as well as over a decade of experience in the social work field. I am licensed in Colorado, and I enjoy working with clients in our urban, rural, and mountain communities. In my practice, I work with clients with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship and family issues, chronic pain and health concerns, self-esteem and self-care, and recovery from abuse and trauma.
My counseling style is warm and welcoming. I believe in creating a safe space where you can express your thoughts without judgement or shame. In my practice, you will be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. My counseling approach is eclectic, and I will tailor our dialog to meet your needs. My approach combines techniques from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness and wellness practices. Together, we will create a treatment plan that works for you and addresses your goals and concerns.
Thank you for taking the first steps toward change. It can be a challenging process, but I am here to help. I look forward to working with you!

Working with Val has been terrific. She is very insightful and responds to my messages promptly. Our dialogue has given me a sense of peace with my primary issue, while also bringing out additional topics I hadn't realized I needed to work through. Overall, I feel a great sense of hope and progress. So glad to be here.
I am extremely happy to have Valery as my counselor and feel free to talk about and open up about almost anything. She asks some very pointed questions and is very insightful and perceptive.
Valery is really great at getting to the heart of the matter. She picks up on things that are important when I am wading through too much data and she asks great leading questions that help me to look at my behavioral patterns and emotional goals in different ways.
Valery has helped me more than any other therapists. She is accepting, wise and very good at helping me realize what I need to realize to heal.
