Welcome! My name is Valery Krieg, but most of my clients call me Val. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) , and I have over 7 years of direct experience providing individual and family counseling, as well as over a decade of experience in the social work field. I am licensed in Colorado, and I enjoy working with clients in our urban, rural, and mountain communities. In my practice, I work with clients with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship and family issues, chronic pain and health concerns, self-esteem and self-care, and recovery from abuse and trauma.
My counseling style is warm and welcoming. I believe in creating a safe space where you can express your thoughts without judgement or shame. In my practice, you will be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. My counseling approach is eclectic, and I will tailor our dialog to meet your needs. My approach combines techniques from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness and wellness practices. Together, we will create a treatment plan that works for you and addresses your goals and concerns.
Thank you for taking the first steps toward change. It can be a challenging process, but I am here to help. I look forward to working with you!

There is a real difference in my life before Valery and my life now. She is a trusted confidante. With her help, I have been able to gain clarity and confidence in important decisions. I am better because of her kind assistance.
Valerie always offers intuitive and insightful reactions to my problems. I always feel better after talking with her.
I haven't been with Valery for very long but so far I like her. She is nice, understanding and is a good listener. I appreciate her.
Since starting my journey with Valerie she has given me much to think about and how to start to improve aspects of my life that I have needed help in. She is very supportive and understanding. I would recommend her to anyone looking for help!
So far Val seems very engaged and competent. I hope to continue our sessions and I an engaged in our topics and her questions
Val is an amazing counselor! I really enjoy my sessions
I love Valery. She is so good at listening and making suggestions. Best counselor I've had!
Val is very thorough , considerate and kind in her approach. I can feel that she genuinely cares. She gives me practical, easy to use tools that have been very helpful already. I appreciate her ability to speak slowly and calmly, acknowledging my feelings and staying with me while I process my big emotions. She listens well and is always prompt with a response. Her words are gentle and her voice is quiet which makes me feel safe and comfortable while sharing my thoughts and feelings. I recommend her. I appreciate that she is closer to my age range, as I have trouble opening up to other adults, especially those that are 30 or more years older than I am. She is very real-not fake. I appreciate her.
Dr. Valerie Kreig is outstanding. She skillfully uses her expertise, knowledge, and insight to use your communications to better help you get the results you seek to achieve. She is patient, supportive, tactful, courteous, caring, and honest. She is the most helpful therapist I have ever been seen by, and she has helped me make more progress in months than I have previously made in years. It should be noted that I have very difficult psychological and emotional disturbances. She is truly an example of expertise in her profession.
Val is great! She has helped me realize some things about myself and family that I didn't and has me really thinking about what I should be doing next.
Valery is very supportive and a great listener. And I appreciate her insight and thoughtful words.
From day one of just opening up over text I had a sense of calm and wasn’t overwhelmed from an office visit and I immediately clicked with Valery’s style. My first session with Valery over phone went event better. I found talking over the phone in my own space to be very relaxing and comforting and I like the way Valery approaches the situations and topics that we discuss. I always end my sessions feeling positive and better than when I started.
I love the betterhelp counselors especially Valery. She has been so helpful and nice about my situation. I know I change subjects on her often but she still sticks with them even when I wonder off. She stays in touch even when I don't respond fast. I love being able to talk to her anytime I need her. It is just amazing and I will continue to work with her until I may no longer need help. Thank you!
Valery is thoughtful and timely in her responses.
Valery is amazing. She supported me in my bad times. She was always there for me.
Valery is amazing with the way she is able to lower my anxiety levels and help me work through some trauma from my past. She is always available and gets back to me so quickly (usually within 24 hours or less). I truly appreciate what she has done for me and the work that we are doing for the improvement of my life and my self care. I'm so grateful that I took the step into this program and got started with someone so generous with her time.
Valery Krieg is excellent. She does exceptionally well at helping me organize my thoughts and pinpoint negatives while also providing a ton of resources to help. She comes back to things that we have already discussed to make sure I’m still working on them and getting better. She has been incredibly beneficial to talk to and a resource I heavily value in my life. I could not be happier with my experience with her!
Valery is absolutely amazing and the best therapist I’ve worked with. She’s kind and compassionate. She’s a great listener and I feel heard and supported. At appropriate times, she pushes back certain things I bring up and challenges my thoughts and feelings. She gives me very thoughtful suggestions and points to work on. She helps me look at the situation from several different perspectives, which allows me to broaden my understanding of my thoughts and actions. That is also key to viewing other’s thoughts and actions in a nonjudgmental way. I have learned so much about myself and I’m able to identify what I like about me and what needs to be worked on.
Valero Krueger Has been an overall great experience. She has helped me overcome so much and got me to realize what I need to, in order to make change. I feel like I have achieved almost everything I wanted to since starting therapy, and all in a few months. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing help!
Working with Val has been terrific. She is very insightful and responds to my messages promptly. Our dialogue has given me a sense of peace with my primary issue, while also bringing out additional topics I hadn't realized I needed to work through. Overall, I feel a great sense of hope and progress. So glad to be here.
I am extremely happy to have Valery as my counselor and feel free to talk about and open up about almost anything. She asks some very pointed questions and is very insightful and perceptive.
Valery is really great at getting to the heart of the matter. She picks up on things that are important when I am wading through too much data and she asks great leading questions that help me to look at my behavioral patterns and emotional goals in different ways.
