Hi! Let me start by telling you a little about myself. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I have 23 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have worked with a culturally diverse population with a variety of mental health challenges. I assist clients with creating goals to improve their mental health and wellness. My counseling style is interactive, non-judgmental and respectful. I have enjoyed the opportunity to help others develop self-awareness, coping skills and behavior modification. I believe the therapeutic process is a partnership between a therapist and an active and willing participant focused on getting to wellness in their individual journey. As we all are complex and individual beings with personal underlying factors, my favored methodology is Integrative Therapy. I believe this method allows the therapist and the participant freedom to explore various aspects of self with varied approaches. If you are ready to take that first step towards change, I am here to support and empower you! Please note that I do not work on the weekends and won't be online. Let’s get started! Sandra Oteri, MS, LPC, NBCC

My many years in the corporate world as an executive for a significant family business helped prepare me for my work as a professional addictions and substance abuse counseling. Not only did it condition me with the tools of awareness, acceptance and compromise in the face of diversity and difficulties, but also it taught me never to give up: keep looking for options and solutions even in the times of darkest trouble. As an executive managing hundreds of employees it would have been easy for me to assume that my perspective on life was the only one that mattered. Fortunately, my own struggles managing relationship and emotional challenges taught me that everyone has a right to their own perspective and feelings. I endeavor to listen intently to my clients, be open and honest with my feedback and always honor and protect the right of the people I work with to make their own decisions in life. As a former high school teacher, wrestling coach and girls soccer coach, I have experience with teenagers and parents and have helped resolve family conflicts. My work experiences took me on a career path through many states, Oregon, Oklahoma, Arizona and California before returning to our 4th generation family business in Pennsylvania. As such, I have experienced many different cultures and life styles. As a former 20 year board of director of a billion dollar bank, I have experience working and connecting with other business leaders in Pennsylvania. As a counselor, this gives me a unique insight into the world of high finance and connects me with the culture and work ethic of the corporate world. My work in professional counseling and the addictions psychology field in particular gives me an opportunity to practice what I've learned and share those benefits with others. When problems beset us and challenges threaten to overwhelm us, looking for who's to blame is a waste of time. Rather, I've come to realize that the best use of energy and life strategy is to find ways to accept reality, deal with facts without denial and grow into greater levels of maturity as a result. I am no stranger to life transitions and with my counseling skill sets, I make that experience available in creative ways to my clients. I cannot change my clients. Only they can change themselves. My goal as a professional counselor is to help clients find the ways and means to modify their behavior so that they are able to take better care of themselves. My Website is Transitionsamerica.com

My main goal is to help you become empowered to make the changes you can realistically make to improve your life. We'll accomplish this by helping you grow your confidence and process and heal trauma. My ideal client is willing to explore things they do not understand about themselves and/or those around them and thereby build self-awareness. Their issues fall under the categories of self-esteem, stress and/or mood management, behavioral issues, trauma and PTSD, domestic abuse/violence, teen counseling, grief, family conflict, and spirituality and faith topics. Our words are at times not enough to express the depths of our emotions. I believe in client-directed therapy. I use a client-tailored mixture of art-making and psychotherapy techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Motivational Interviewing, Psychoanalysis, and more! I understand that your current circumstances are difficult beyond words. This is why I'd like to partner with you to find ways to vent and cope with the help of creativity. As we explore those things you're struggling with, we'll also find ways to help you cope and visualize realistic, step-by-step solutions to these struggles.
