Located on the eastern edge of the gorgeous and well-known Mississippi Delta, Greenwood originated as a center of the cotton plantation industry back in the days of slavery. However, as the times changed, Greenwood also worked hard to rid itself of its negative history and embrace a new day of civil rights and freedom for all.
Just like Greenwood did, you can rid yourself of any negative baggage and prepare yourself to start a new life with the health of therapy and mental health counseling. Don’t be ashamed to reach out and become a new, better, you. History isn’t everything.

I am a social worker licensed at LCSW level in Mississippi. Sometimes we need someone to help us make needed changes or keep track of how we’re doing with the many ways we and our lives can change. Becoming a social worker was a midlife transition for me. “It’s never too late.” was a saying that became a mantra as I learned from challenges related to making a new life 30+ years ago. But now, with a stronger cognitive perspective, I’d change that to, “It’s not too late right now”. My cultural background is mixed. To me, each person is unique, but our common humanity makes us alike. My experience is broad including : outpatient, inpatient, IOP, home health and hospice. I take an eclectic approach towards working with others, so that I can fit what I offer to your individual needs. Modalities and techniques I can bring to our work include: humanistic, insight-oriented, cognitive behavioral, wholistic, and solution focused .
Keiana Jones
Greeting! My name is Keiana and I would love to provide counseling services to you ! I have a 21 plus year track record of providing counseling services. I have worked in hospital, clinic, schools, and prison setting. I enjoy working with all populations ( e.g., children, young adults; older adults; etc). I have experience in multiple areas- metal health issues( e.g., depression; anxiety; schizophrenia; bi- polar; etc) ; anger management; phase of life changes; relationship issues; trauma, substance abuse; dual diagnosis( e.g., mental illness and substance abuse); and a host other areas. My theory of choice is the Adlerian Theory. However, I function from an eclectic approach as I used various techniques/ theory to reach my clients ( e.g., client center; cognitive behavior; brief therapy model; evidence based; mindfulness; etc). I often use the first 10 - 15 minutes of the session to process what has happen in the client's life since our last contact. The reminder of the session is used to introduce the client to techniques/ interventions he or she could utilize to mange her /his symptoms, behaviors, or environmental stressors that maybe associated the identified area of need of environmental stressors that may have occurred between sessions. Homework assignments are implement and these assignments normally consist of the client implementing the techniques/ intervention. During the next session, the client will be encouraged to reflect on the effectiveness of this technique/ intervention. My most powerful techniques are empathy, active listener, and genuine personality.

Growing up in small rural area of the Mississippi Delta is easy for most people, but for people with anxiety and depression, as an adolescent, life can become difficult. I came from a good Christian home where morals and values were taught from the beginning. Anxiety and depression were issues that were not talked about in the home. It was not until I was in my late twenties that I learned that it was okay to talk about uncomfortable feelings and emotions and it was certainly nothing to be ashamed of. As I began to seek counseling, I was able to learn to become self-aware of my own feelings and to learn from my counselor’s guidance, that I could make positive changes in my own life. Counselors were able to provide valuable assistance to my emotional needs and help assist me in learning to express myself in a healthy way and to learn coping skills to function to the best of my ability in everyday life situations. This is how my journey began as a counselor when my passion for helping others began. My inclination towards the profession develop when I developed a personal aspiration to advocate and to help others through my own personal experiences. I wanted to be a part of my future clients’ journeys to become the most fulfilling versions of themselves. My background includes working with individuals with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addiction issues, bipolar disorders, general mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorders and attention deficit disorders.

Maria Britt
Welcome! My name is Maria, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Mississippi and Arizona with over 25 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have BA degree in Psychology and a MS degree in Clinical Psychology from Mississippi State University. I also have an Ed.S. degree in Educational and Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri. I have experience with both adults and adolescents. I have worked with an array of client populations and concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, substance abuse and recovery issues, trauma, self-esteem, bipolar, and schizophrenia. Life is often full of challenges, which ebbs and flows with each chapter of life. I am here to support, empower, and guide you on the journey that is uniquely yours, and one in which you are the author. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to support your self-discovery, dreams, and aspirations and to help you live your best life on your own terms. People seek counseling for a variety of reasons. I realize that some people may only need a sounding board and support from their counselor. Some people solely need the processing element from a counselor to increase their confidence in decision-making skills and make sense of life’s happenstances. While for others, it proves to be a safe, confidential space to vent, which proves cathartic in its own right. For some individuals, it may be candid advice, perspective, and goal-directed solutions to pressing problems. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific goals. I realize that counseling can seem intimidating for some, so I will work with a format and at pace with which you are most comfortable. My counseling style is down-to-earth, warm, and empathetic. I believe in meeting a person where they are in guiding them along their journey. I believe every person has intrinsic value and worth, and I treat everyone with dignity, respect, and compassion. I also favor a person-centered, individualized approach that embraces self-determination, empowerment, and resiliency. I value holistic care, which seeks to improve overall wellness and health. My approach is eclectic in nature and combines person-centered, strength-based, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, brief solution-focused, mindfulness, and reality therapy. Additionally, I may assign worksheets from time to time to promote introspection and insight. I applaud you for being here today and your quest to improve your overall well-being and happiness. It takes courage and strength to seek a more fulfilling life and to contemplate change. When you are ready to take that next step, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you on your journey!
