Tatia Miller
Tatia Miller, MA, LPC, LSOTP, CCM First, let me tell you just a bit about my personal self. I am Texas born and bred. I've only lived outside of this state I love for just three very short periods. I've always come back. My license is only in Texas. And, I've worked my entire adult life in the mental and behavioral health fields. I've been fortunate to always work, but I do have lots of hobbies. I've been married 35 years, have two grown daughters and two very very CUTE grandchildren. My two dogs keep me busy. I do think pugs are so adorable--but probably suffer a bit of ADHD themselves. I am in that age bracket that still worries about my aging dad. My philosophy for therapy and life is very simple. It’s like a recipe. If we take a little of that and a dab of this, we can create something, if not magical—at least edible. Life is not always easy or delectable, but it is usually, at least, a place where we can learn to improve our “recipe” for coping with any of life's struggles. While we can never change events which have occurred, we can develop a different view of what we’ve been through and a plan to create a better outlook- creating a “recipe” of healing and a better emotional state. In my life, I’ve been fortunate to have had the greatest experiences. While I thought I was just working to help take care of my family—feeling grateful to be working in a field I very much love, my path was creating a base and layers of experience which would afford me lots of success, a wealth of ideas and the wisdom to help others. Counseling is a more of a calling for me. I truly believe that without a higher power's direction, I would not be able to have helped others in confronting the experiences and challenges my clients and I have faced together throughout all these years. I'm a firm believer that no one person should spend all their time in therapy. While there are some instances that require a longer modality, most issues can be approached with shorter solutions. This doesn't believe that I think someone can be healed in 6 short sessions. What it does mean is that it is imperative that we use the skills we learn in therapy in our daily lives. Without this step, healing cannot occur. Thus, it is a two-part progression; learn the steps in therapy and then actually use them in daily living. As a result of working so long, I have been privileged to have worked with many populations: neurological disorders such as ADHD, TBI/ABI and autism; depression; chronic mental illness; personality disorders; work-related injuries and chronic health issues. I have worked with both men and women of all generations, as well as helped those who have been to prison/have legal issues; have dealt with grief/loss and have felt compromised by lost relationships such as divorce. If you are seeking a plan of health; a recipe of sorts, which might help you see that more fruitful outlook, I look forward to meeting with you and helping you learn to create the best “recipe” for you to flourish and in being your best self. Thank you for considering me. I so look forward to meeting you!

Patrice Stevens
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1990 with clients in the state of Texas. I have worked with clients experiencing a broad range of issues and concerns including trauma, PTDS, depression, anxiety, anger, relationship issues, parenting skills, self-care, and many other psychological issues. There are 2 essential things to be mindful of when engaging in therapy. First, all negative behavior is the result of unhealed wounds we carry around with us, knowingly or unknowingly, from the past. Second, all anger issues serve to cover deep levels of pain or hurt, and that is because anger is not a primary emotion. Anger is a secondary emotion provoked by hurtful feelings. I have helped many individuals who have experienced trauma (physical, mental, emotional and sexual) during childhood and adulthood. Using informed trauma therapy, clients learn to embrace the wound created by their trauma without having to relive any traumatic events. Steps to the healing process include: (1) examining the negative effects of trauma currently in one's life, (2) processing the impact that trauma has had on one's growth and development, (3) overcoming anxious thoughts and feelings of "not being enough," (4) accepting the "radical acceptance" of oneself and embracing the path to total healing, (5) developing effective coping strategies including learning to self-soothe, regulate emotions, establish healthy self-esteem, and develop skills to communicate and manage conflict effectively. My counseling style is best described as compassionate, accepting, fair, direct, straightforward, solutions-oriented, and motivated to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals. I see my role as the individual entrusted to help my clients face their fears and embrace radical acceptance of Self. My clients are ideally positioned to develop effective coping skills and facilitate the changes they want in their lives. Every session is about moving clients toward the goals they have established for their counseling experience. It can be frightening to take the first steps to engage with a therapist you have never met. It may be helpful to understand that I am experienced and well versed in the process of healing and facilitating change. Again, it's important to remember that all negative thoughts and unhealthy behaviors are likely the result of a wound from the past that has not healed. I will listen to your thoughts and feelings, clarify issues associated with those thoughts and feelings, and guide you through the process for healing your wounds and facilitating change. My goal is to help you and guide you. You and I will work as a team and be in partnership regarding the direction of your counseling as well as specific goals for treatment. I look forward to working with you! Please take the first step toward the process of healing and change! We can do this together!
