The primary focal point of Moody is the Moody City Park, which boasts many activities and parklands for the enjoyment of its residents and visitors. One of the primary attractions for many is the adult softball leagues that run in spring and fall. Softball is not a soft game, similar to the game of life. It may be a milder game than baseball, but if the ball hits you hard enough, it will hurt, and you will need help.
If life has hit you with a few curveballs recently, there is help available to you. Therapists in the Moody area can offer you emotional support and advice that will help get you through the worst of times. If you are in need of help to get back to a feeling of mental or emotional wellness, contact a counselor today.

Lorene Floyd
My name is Lorene Floyd and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Alabama. I received by Masters in Counseling and Human Development from Troy University, Montgomery and my BS degree in Psychology from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. I have been working in the mental health field (primarily the Veteran Affairs Health Care System) for 30 years and am currently retired so that I can have more time with my grandkids. The bulk of my experiences include working with individuals with substance abuse problems and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This has equipped me to also be able to relate and treat issues such as anger, anxiety, marital, and stress along with a number of other mental health disorders. I have also recently completed certification to be a Life Purpose Life Coach with the hope that I can help you discover your purpose and develop your passion. I'm relatively easy going and open-minded but believe in being direct and honest. Although I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy, I believe most times that just allowing you to talk about your problems goes a long way towards finding a solution and healing. I'm a very spiritual person of faith and enjoy singing, dancing (only for fun) and walking. I am excited to be a part of a helping team!

Timothy Rowell
I am a social worker licensed in Alabama and Florida with over 13 years of experience working as a therapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma related challenges, addiction to substances, and psychosis. I believe it is important my patients feel comfortable engaging with me and know they will never be judged for anything they disclose during session. I believe the moment this occurs work will halt as honesty between us is essential to healing. I believe in treating everyone with care, respect, and being genuine with my patients. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, rational emotive behavior therapy, and dialectic behavioral therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes effort and work to make changes to our lives. When we work together in a collaborative effort we can make the progress you desire. My hope is to see you be successful and help you achieve the quality of life you desire and deserve. I look forward to working with you!

Dr. Michele Kelly
Hello! I have been a practicing social worker for over 30 years. I am licensed in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi. I have many years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families dealing with a range of issues in a variety of settings. Currently, I work primarily with teens and adults in their attempts to navigate challenging transitions. Life is full of transitions. These may include adjusting to college, beginning your first job, changing or losing a job, moving, getting married, welcoming and parenting a new baby, separating or divorcing, retiring, the passing of a loved one, or adjusting to life as an immigrant or ex-pat. Navigating these transitions -- even when they are joyful -- can be stressful and sometimes lead to anxiety and depression. I consider myself to be an eclectic therapist as I utilize several different approaches such as solution-focused brief therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and cognitive behavior therapy. Initially, I’ll conduct an assessment and based on the outcome will select approaches that are best for you. Research has shown that tailoring therapy to clients can enhance their treatment outcomes. By working together, I can assist you in developing or strengthening effective coping skills or problem-solving strategies that will better help you in the future. I have flexible hours to accommodate your work schedule. I appreciate your effort in reaching out and encourage you to contact me with any questions you might have. I look forward to us possibly working together.

My counseling philosophy is If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward. –Martin Luther King, Jr. The thought of assisting and helping others has been a driving force instilled within me since childhood. I am an outgoing, down to earth person that does not meet a stranger. I am a firm believer that there are no “cookie cutter” solutions to the counseling process as we are all created differently and must be treated as such. My therapeutic strengths are my tenacious and “real world” approaches to counseling, offering simple and clear interventions. My educational journey began at the prestigious Alabama State University in Montgomery, AL and concluded with the great Troy University. During that journey I obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Juvenile Delinquency and a minor in Sociology, and then secured a Master of Science in Counseling and Psychology focusing in Clinical Mental Health. I have over fifteen years of experience working with youth and families in residential, non-traditional educational, and outpatient counseling settings. I look forward to assisting and helping each client work toward their therapeutic goals. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, & parenting issues. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.
