Dr. J (JoLene) Klumpp
I am a licensed professional counselor with a PhD in psychology and more than 20 years of experience in outpatient therapy. My clinical background includes working with individuals facing a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, life transitions, career challenges, grief, academic difficulties, and phobias. I have extensive experience supporting clients with obsessive-compulsive disorder, anger management issues, relationship concerns, body image challenges, and self-esteem issues. My work has also included assisting individuals coping with emotional stress, aging-related concerns, and significant health conditions. I have provided services to LGBTQIA+ clients, including adolescents and adults who are transitioning, as well as teens, adults, older adults, and individuals from both affluent and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. My therapeutic approach is eclectic and grounded, drawing from multiple evidence-based modalities to meet each person’s unique needs. I strongly believe in the value of therapeutic work outside the session. Clients can expect to engage in targeted exercises between sessions that support the goals we establish together. Treatment is collaborative, interactive, and tailored to each individual’s circumstances. I strive to create a respectful, nonjudgmental, and empowering environment where clients feel safe, accepted, and supported. I view counseling as a collaborative process that can serve as either a short-term resource or a long-term support, depending on personal needs. Taking the step to begin counseling is an important move toward greater self-awareness, and I recognize the courage it takes to face complex challenges. I am here to help whenever you are ready to talk. Let’s talk!
Amy Klein
I have been doing individual, group, and family therapy since I received my MSW degree in 2007, but I've worked in the field of social work since right out of high school. In my therapy practice, I draw from a wide variety of personal and career experiences which have taught me to hold emotional space and cultivate safety and unconditional positive regard for my clients. I began as a VISTA volunteer at a YWCA on the border of Detroit. After completing my BSW at Wayne State University I was hired into a program that provided in-home family therapy and case management for parents that were involved with CPS. Then I joined the Peace Corps and served in Kingston, Jamaica as a youth-at-risk volunteer. I completed my MSW degree at Western Michigan University after I returned to the US, and have worked in a variety of settings as a clinical therapist since then, including a Native tribe, a medium-security prison, rural schools, and within a medical clinic setting. I also teach yoga and am a reiki master, and I practice Native Tradition. My current perspective on counseling is that humanity is going through a massive evolution of consciousness. I am an empath which also informs my therapeutic approach. I enjoy blending scientific facts and ancient wisdom with storytelling when working with my clients. I live in a cottage in the woods, close to Lake Michigan, and I spend as much time in nature as possible. I care deeply about people and while I have many hobbies, mental health therapy has always been my passion. My family is full of mental illness, addiction, narcissism, and abuse and as a child I dreamed of being happy and helping others find their happiness too. I believe we all have an inner compass that can guide us. Mindfulness, CBT techniques, yoga, philosophy, art, music, and humor make up the majority of my approach with clients in an attempt to spark that connection with your inner compass.

Laurie Stricker
I completed my Master of Social Work degree in April of 1998 while working full-time . I had begun volunteering at a domestic violence shelter and was looking at methods for helping these at -risk families. My first job post Master's degree was working in the foster care system. That led me to a better understanding of child welfare, family dynamics, and the legal system. I then moved back to my hometown in northeast Michigan to work as an infant mental health specialist. This opportunity gave me more skill in working with trauma, family therapy, and being comfortable in the client's own home. My work at the local hospital's behavioral health services expanded my ability to provide individual psychotherapy to people of all ages and background. I also developed proficiancy in working with in-patient units for substance abuse and mental illness. during my employment there. My move to the VA was a wonderful journey and extremely educational. At this point in my life I feel that my knowledge, background, and skills has made me a well rounded therapist. I am comfortable utilizing different modalities with a variety of clients.
