Nolan Chojnacki
My name is Nolan Chojnacki and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oklahoma and I have been working in community mental health for 9 years. My initial experiences have been with working with couples and young adults from 18-25. The past few years I have expanded my experience to adults from 25-35, which is my current primary client demographic as well as clients aged 45-55. The areas of expertise I have addressed in therapy range from depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addiction problems, career challenges, and general stress. My counseling style has been described as warm and empathetic and I've worked to build on those strengths over the years as working as a therapist. I strongly believe in letting my clients know that they will be listened to and not judged when working with me. I want my clients to feel comfortable and understood, because I believe that is when you are able to fully see what changes and differences you are capable of making to improve your life now and beyond our counseling sessions. My theoretical approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, client-focused, and solution-focused models. I always tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes strength to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and those strengths that you possess are what I plan on highlighting for you, while also assisting you in finding other talents and passions that make you feel complete and worthwhile in whatever you hope to achieve. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you. I really look forward to working with you!

The human spirit is more powerful than any drug, and it is that we need to nurture. Lives get off track for many reason, but they can get back on track. I am honored to help. For the last 30 years, I was employed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Since 1998, I served as a Drug Treatment Specialist, working with adult male offenders with substance use disorders. The previous 7 years, I was employed in Human Resources and unit management. I left that job due to mandatory retirement. I loved the work because I found it meaningful. Even though the primary focus was a cognitive-behavioral approach to addiction, I counseled our clients regarding grief and loss and relationship issues of all kinds. I enjoyed working with people who had forgotten their own potential and watching them grow and take control of the rest of their lives. EDUCATION Master of Arts in Personnel and Organizational Psychology in 1992, from the University of Central Oklahoma (formerly Central State University) in Edmond, Oklahoma. Bachelor of Business Administration in 1988, from Central State University, Edmond, Oklahoma.
Kevin West
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I graduated from the University of Colorado in Denver in 1995 with a master’s degree in counseling psychology/counseling education. Since then, I have amassed over 30 years of experience seeing clients in a variety of settings. I have worked with high school students on their personal and professional development. At universities, I led workshops for non-traditional (older) students. I have developed teambuilding workshops for companies and provided career counseling for individuals. I have been invited to present personality type workshops to various community groups. I have worked for agencies and in private practice. More recently, I have worked with client’s in their homes, addressing the gamut of personal issues a person can face: depression, anxiety, grief/loss, anger issues, premarital/marital issues, suicide, addictions in the family, low self-esteem, family of origin issues, and others. I am currently licensed in the state of Oklahoma Early in my education, I was encouraged to develop my own style of counseling, and that is what I have done. I have many different theoretical techniques in my “counseling toolbox”: cognitive/thought oriented, behavioral oriented, past/present/and future oriented. I steer clear of typical “psychobabble,” but I am fond of a good analogy. I like to use humor, and I believe that we all can laugh at ourselves if we feel secure enough. Knowing that we are loved in spite of (or maybe even because of) our flaws can be quite encouraging. I will accept you, and your issues, because I know I have my share. In fact, I was once told that the difference between a therapist and a client is that a therapist is further along in sorting out their issues. The counseling setting for me can be similar to the old joke where a man loses his wallet on a dark street. Another man sees the first one searching around under a streetlight and asks if he can be of assistance. The first man explains that he has lost his wallet and would welcome any assistance. The two men comb the area thoroughly, looking everywhere to no avail. Finally the second man says to the first, “Are you sure you lost it here?” To which the first man replies, “No, I lost it down in that dark alley.” The second man says, “Well, Why are we looking here?!” The first man says, “Because the light is better here.” A good therapist can be a flashlight - helping you explore the darker areas of your life. But, don’t worry, we won’t go until you are ready. I look forward to searching with you.
