My name is Jennifer Bicknese, ATR-BC, LPC. I am a Board Certified and Licensed Professional Counselor. I am licensed in the state of Pennsylvania and have 11 years of counseling experience. I have worked in an outpatient facility with children, an outpatient facility with adolescents and adults, and a residential facility with individuals diagnosed with bipolar and schizophrenia. I have the most experience working with, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, sexual identity, LGBTQ community, life stressors, grief and loss, and anger management. I utilize two different methods of counseling. The first one is the practice of Art Therapy. Art Therapy is a non-verbal way to express feelings and work on overcoming obstacles. If a client is open to trying Art Therapy, there are many techniques I can provide to help with life stressors. By providing a therapy using art supplies, such as, paint, colored pencils crayons, markers, clay, etc., a client can discover key themes in their artwork. Through learning about these key themes, a client can better discover their own way of finding personal solutions to their goals of therapy. The second practice I utilize is a Person-Centered Approach. A Person-Centered Approach basically means I want to help a client find ways in which to overcome stressors through positive support and understanding. By using a Person-Centered Approach, I help to guide a client into reaching their own personal growth and change. I do this by assisting clients with what they feel needs to be worked through. I am here to listen and support, with no judgement present. It is my aim to empower and motivate clients through the therapy process. I look forward to learning more about you and helping you achieve all the goals you have set forth. Thank you for looking at my profile and allowing me to help you achieve a happier and healthier life.

Hi! Let me start by telling you a little about myself. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I have 23 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have worked with a culturally diverse population with a variety of mental health challenges. I assist clients with creating goals to improve their mental health and wellness. My counseling style is interactive, non-judgmental and respectful. I have enjoyed the opportunity to help others develop self-awareness, coping skills and behavior modification. I believe the therapeutic process is a partnership between a therapist and an active and willing participant focused on getting to wellness in their individual journey. As we all are complex and individual beings with personal underlying factors, my favored methodology is Integrative Therapy. I believe this method allows the therapist and the participant freedom to explore various aspects of self with varied approaches. If you are ready to take that first step towards change, I am here to support and empower you! Please note that I do not work on the weekends and won't be online. Let’s get started! Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, and you don’t have to know exactly where to begin. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and accepted for who you are. I take a person-centered, trauma-informed approach to therapy, meeting you where you are and honoring your unique experiences, strengths, and needs. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and I see therapy as a collaborative process where we can work together to better understand what you’re experiencing and find what feels right for you. As a board-certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC), I also have the ability to bring creativity into our work when you’re interested. Art therapy doesn’t require you to be “artistic”—creative expression can simply offer another way to explore feelings and experiences when words don’t always come easily. I have experience working with teens, young adults, and adults in a variety of settings, including residential treatment, substance use treatment, and crisis services. These experiences have shaped my compassionate, nonjudgmental approach and taught me the importance of seeing the whole person behind what they are going through. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, navigating a difficult transition, healing from past experiences, or simply wanting to understand yourself better, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. I’d be honored to meet you where you are and walk alongside you as you move toward where you want to be.

For me, to live is to feel loved and connected. I believe that almost every mental health ailment is born from those feelings (not us as a person) being fractured or broken. As a physical break of the bone requires care in order to heal, so too do we deserve support in our emotional healing. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), having received my Masters degree in Community and Trauma Counseling through Jefferson University, I diagnose and treat the people I work with through a social context and strength-based approach. I am trained in Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT), evidence-based practices like Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and a wide variety of other methods. Most importantly, I work with the hope and confidence that we can create a healthy therapeutic relationship that promotes healing and growth. When we work together, we will learn from each other – creating a sense of mutual trust that will serve as the foundation for learning, growing and healing. We will practice curiosity, embrace difficult emotions and move forward - together - into a new space where love and connection can be seen and felt as we live our lives fully.

Find a therapist near you in Perrysville, Pennsylvania

Finding a therapist near you in Perrysville, Pennsylvania starts with matching to a licensed professional who fits your needs, schedule, and goals. Pennsylvania is home to people with diverse mental health needs across urban, suburban, and rural communities, which can make it challenging to find care. BetterHelp connects you with a licensed therapist through tailored matching, so you can begin care from home or wherever works for you.

The network includes over 30,000 licensed therapists globally, and over 4 million people have used BetterHelp to find support through online therapy. During matching, 93% of user preferences are met, which helps you connect with a therapist suited to what you are looking for. Whether you are searching for help with anxiety, trauma, affordable or insurance covered therapy, weekend or flexible scheduling, or virtual sessions, you can find a therapist and get started when you are ready.

Why work with a licensed therapist near you?

Working with a licensed therapist near you gives you access to professional mental health support from someone trained to help you understand and manage what you are going through. A licensed therapist can offer evidence-based approaches, a steady space to talk, and guidance tailored to your situation. In Pennsylvania, online therapy can make that care more accessible, since sessions happen from home or wherever you are, without the need to travel to an office. This can help if your schedule is full, if travel is difficult, or if you simply prefer a more discreet setting. You can learn more about what a therapist does on the therapist role page.

Online therapy can be especially helpful for people living across Pennsylvania, where access to in-person mental health care may vary by location.

What concerns can therapists help with?

Therapists can help with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety and stress, depression, trauma and PTSD, self-esteem and identity, people-pleasing and fear of rejection, insomnia and racing thoughts, workplace stress and burnout, substance use, parenting and co-parenting stress, grief and loss, and relationship and family challenges. Therapists on BetterHelp may draw on approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), depending on your needs and goals. You can explore support for specific concerns on pages such as generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and eating disorders.

Please note that therapists on BetterHelp do not provide psychiatric medication management or formal diagnoses.

Online therapy vs. in-person therapy in Pennsylvania

Online therapy and in-person therapy both connect you with a licensed professional, and the main difference is how you meet. In Pennsylvania, online therapy through BetterHelp lets you have sessions by phone, video, or in-app messaging, so you can meet from home or on a schedule that fits your life. In-person therapy takes place at an office and may involve travel and set appointment windows. Online therapy may be more accessible for people with busy schedules, limited transportation, or a preference for a more discreet setting. Both formats can support meaningful progress, so the right choice often comes down to what fits your life.
