In South Florida, mental health counseling isn’t always easy to find in more rural areas. When looking for a therapist, Hollywood, FL, a city located in the greater Miami metro area can be a better place to find one than most due to a larger population. But even near big cities, finding the right person for mental health care treatment isn’t an easy prospect.

One of the challenges is that there are a number of evidence-based therapeutic approaches that can be more or less effective depending on the type of mental health issue being addressed. Someone seeking substance abuse treatment wouldn’t look for treatment with someone who specializes in intimacy issues. What you need in a therapist may not necessarily be available in your area.

With online therapy through a platform like BetterHelp, you have access to a wider range of mental healthcare professionals. BetterHelp has over 30,000 providers on staff, with specializations in everything from family conflict to a holistic approach for treating mood disorders. By filling out a simple online questionnaire, you can be matched to a therapist that meets your individual needs. And because the therapeutic process relies heavily on client/therapist rapport, if you feel the need to change therapists you can do so at no additional cost.

Online therapy can also be a way for people processing trauma to meet with their therapist in what feels like a safe environment, such as their home or office. Busy professionals or students working on their bachelor's degrees at nearby Florida International University may find online sessions a convenient way to meet with their therapist. With video chat, phone, and text messaging options, you can talk to your therapist anytime and anywhere.

If you’re living in Hollywood, find therapists through BetterHelp to get more access to specialization and convenience. Therapy can be beneficial for many of us trying to manage life’s challenges. If you’ve been struggling, take the first step toward positive change by reaching out to BetterHelp.

Hi, my name is Iyana Davidson. Let me first introduce myself, and give you a little background information on myself and my experience as a therapist. I am a LMHC, Licensed Mental Health Therapist, in the State of Florida. I have been practicing counseling for a total of nine years. Before receiving my Masters in Clinical Psychology, I received a Bachelors in Criminal Justice. After a change of heart and career goals; becoming a therapist was my new passion. I have found no better way to do work that is meaningful and transformative to others; while simultaneously supporting and facilitating my own personal growth. My experience include issues related to anxiety, depression, anger management, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders. I have found a niche in applying Cognitive and Humanistic Behavioral approaches. Both approaches challenge clients to identify negative thought patterns; which can help clients to view and respond to challenging situations in a more effective way. Humanistic approach allows for clients to focus on strengths and not faults, and also allows for self-help. A person is always responsible for their own happiness, and I'm here to help you find it. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

11/28/25 It is winter in the mountains. I have turned off video scheduling availability. If you want video please just let me know. I am into frequent power outage season and video is not always a possibility. I am a licensed clinical social worker and certified trauma professional. I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a BSW in social work, a certificate in Addictions, and an Master's in clinical social work. I have worked with clients experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia, borderline personality disorder and depression; clients with a history of physical and psychological abuse, self harm, sexual abuse, and other traumas. I utilize a combination of traditional talk therapy, education on how trauma affects our brains, and implementation of practical tools and action steps to achieve the changes you want to make in your life. I believe talk therapy is helpful but that it takes action to reprogram your brain's reactions to triggers. Most clients I have worked with who are experiencing any form of anxiety believe they are crazy. I assure you it is not crazy. Your brain is meant to function in the way it does to protect you. I also wholeheartedly believe physical and mental health are intertwined. I will ask you to experiment with new techniques and reactions to triggers and difficult relationships. I provide the knowledge of tools and techniques but you are the expert on you. Generally, I start with getting to know you and what you want to work on. We move into education on your specific diagnoses and on brain function and how we can reprogram. We begin taking small steps using tools I will teach you. All I need is for you to be willing to experiment with new techniques and reactions to difficult situations and people, and to let me know if the specific technique does not work for you so we can try another. Those steps have been as small as having clients who experience agoraphobia sit in a different room for 5 minutes, simple but not easy. I will also focus on your physical health and activity level. There is much research that shows some type of physical activity is helpful. I myself have experienced this. I am a hiker, a former activity leader for the Florida Trail, and wilderness first aid certified. I hike, when I am inactive I definitely experience mood changes. If hiking is not your thing that is okay. We will find something that works for you. 10/01/25 If you have requested to work with me.. I am not refusing you. For whatever reason I receive the message and then clients are removed before I have 10 minutes to respond. Most recent disappeared in 6 minutes while I was reading the client info.

  • Flexible scheduling: Sessions that fit around work, family, or school commitments
