Leah Pavela-Mullins
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience in helping people find solutions to their problems. Over the years, I have been told by clients that they really feel that I am listening to them and trying to understand what is going on in their lives and how they feel. Clients have also told me that they do not feel any sense of judgment, but rather that I accept them for who they are and where they are in their life’s journey. My style is empathetic and solution focused. I will spend time asking you questions in order to get to know you and try to find out what is at the heart of your issue. Together, we will talk about possible avenues you may want to take, or changes you may want to consider. I may give you some “homework” assignments…things to write out or think about, worksheets to complete, or even techniques/exercises to practice in your own time so that some of what we discuss in our sessions is reinforced. Most of all, I will be an objective listener, helping you to gain insight into what is going on with you, so that you are able to make the choices and changes you want to, in your own time. I look forward to working with you!

Tatia Miller
Tatia Miller, MA, LPC, LSOTP, CCM First, let me tell you just a bit about my personal self. I am Texas born and bred. I've only lived outside of this state I love for just three very short periods. I've always come back. My license is only in Texas. And, I've worked my entire adult life in the mental and behavioral health fields. I've been fortunate to always work, but I do have lots of hobbies. I've been married 35 years, have two grown daughters and two very very CUTE grandchildren. My two dogs keep me busy. I do think pugs are so adorable--but probably suffer a bit of ADHD themselves. I am in that age bracket that still worries about my aging dad. My philosophy for therapy and life is very simple. It’s like a recipe. If we take a little of that and a dab of this, we can create something, if not magical—at least edible. Life is not always easy or delectable, but it is usually, at least, a place where we can learn to improve our “recipe” for coping with any of life's struggles. While we can never change events which have occurred, we can develop a different view of what we’ve been through and a plan to create a better outlook- creating a “recipe” of healing and a better emotional state. In my life, I’ve been fortunate to have had the greatest experiences. While I thought I was just working to help take care of my family—feeling grateful to be working in a field I very much love, my path was creating a base and layers of experience which would afford me lots of success, a wealth of ideas and the wisdom to help others. Counseling is a more of a calling for me. I truly believe that without a higher power's direction, I would not be able to have helped others in confronting the experiences and challenges my clients and I have faced together throughout all these years. I'm a firm believer that no one person should spend all their time in therapy. While there are some instances that require a longer modality, most issues can be approached with shorter solutions. This doesn't believe that I think someone can be healed in 6 short sessions. What it does mean is that it is imperative that we use the skills we learn in therapy in our daily lives. Without this step, healing cannot occur. Thus, it is a two-part progression; learn the steps in therapy and then actually use them in daily living. As a result of working so long, I have been privileged to have worked with many populations: neurological disorders such as ADHD, TBI/ABI and autism; depression; chronic mental illness; personality disorders; work-related injuries and chronic health issues. I have worked with both men and women of all generations, as well as helped those who have been to prison/have legal issues; have dealt with grief/loss and have felt compromised by lost relationships such as divorce. If you are seeking a plan of health; a recipe of sorts, which might help you see that more fruitful outlook, I look forward to meeting with you and helping you learn to create the best “recipe” for you to flourish and in being your best self. Thank you for considering me. I so look forward to meeting you!

Dr. Susan Gurvich
Welcome! If you are looking into Better Help, you are probably struggling with something significant in your life. Finding the right person to help you is essential. If you don't have a good relationship with your counselor, you won't make the progress you are hoping to achieve. I would like to provide you with some information about me, in order to help you decide if my experience and style is the right match for you. I am a licensed professional counselor with more than 30 years of experience in behavioral health. I have worked in both hospitals and outpatient settings, with people from all different backgrounds who struggle with a wide variety of challenges. Much of my experience has been working with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, caregiving, relationship issues, polyamory, LGBTQ+ and gender issues. Although it may be comforting to believe that a therapist “has it all together,” the truth is that therapists are people with their own challenges, on their own journeys, just as you are. I am still learning, making mistakes, and moving past them. However, from where I am on my path, I hope to be able to see things on your path that you are unable to see, such as obstacles you are facing and alternatives you could try. I will treat you with sensitivity, respect, and warmth; first of all by getting to know you as a person, since you are the expert on your own life. You can expect me to walk with you through whatever difficulties you are facing and help you learn more about yourself and the way you interact with the world. Together, we can come up with goals and solutions that are going to work for you. I can work with you in whatever manner you are most comfortable. I find it helpful to participate in video sessions so that we can read each other’s expressions and nonverbal cues, But I am also available to you via phone and text if that is more comfortable for you. I check messages at least once during each day. Seeking therapy is not an easy decision to make. I know how hard it can be to find a counselor who you feel a connection with and I would be honored to work with you through this stage of your life.

I believe that while the mind is complex, the process of healing should feel safe, accessible, and deeply human. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I dedicate my practice to walking alongside individuals and families as they navigate life’s most difficult transitions. Whether you are struggling with the weight of anxiety, processing past trauma, or trying to make sense of complicated relationships, I am here to help you find your way back to a place of balance and peace. My work is deeply rooted in the belief that healing happens through connection. With a specialized focus on the well-being of children and families, I used evidence based practices to help mend the fractures that trauma can leave behind. Together, we focus on creating "felt safety"—that essential sense of security that allows you to let your guard down and begin the real work of transformation. I strive to make our sessions a sanctuary—a space that is both thoughtful and warmly affirming. Therapy with me isn't just about managing symptoms; it’s about dismantling the barriers that keep you from becoming your truest self. Whether we are working to repair a family bond or exploring your own personal growth, my approach is designed to help you unpack heavy emotions and build a resilience that feels both natural and lasting. I am proud to offer a welcoming environment for individuals of all identities and backgrounds. I treat your story with the utmost respect and care, ensuring that our work together honors the unique path you’ve traveled. You don’t have to carry the weight of your past alone; let’s work together to turn those experiences into a foundation of strength and empowerment.

Find a therapist near you in Sanctuary, Texas
Finding a therapist near you in Sanctuary, Texas starts with matching to a licensed professional who fits your needs, schedule, and goals. Texas is home to people with diverse mental health needs across urban, suburban, and rural communities, which can make it challenging to find care. This can help if your schedule is full, if travel is difficult, or if you simply prefer a more discreet setting. You can learn more about what a therapist does on the therapist role page.

Online therapy and in-person therapy both connect you with a licensed professional, and the main difference is how you meet.
