Hello from Shelley Miller. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 30 years of experience. I strive for short term , goal-oriented, interactive therapy. My previous career was as a genetics counselor, so I bring a medical background, as well as experience in trauma and chemical dependency. Becoming your best and most authentic person is something I may be able to help facilitate. As John F. Kennedy said, "When written in Chinese, the word 'crisis' is composed of two characters. One represents danger and the other represents opportunity." I look forward to bringing the opportunity. If we decide to work together, I would spend some time becoming familiar with you, your life and family, and your goals for therapy. We will work out the best therapy platform and timeframe for your needs. I will want you to be comfortable with me, as a good therapy fit is important.

I am a licensed clinical social worker and licensed addiction counselor in the state of Montana with over 11 years of experience. As a social work major, I have a strong background working with several diverse communities. I am trained to look both at the individual and the large environment that affects the individual. Through my employment at Montana State Hospital, Montana State Prison, the Lewis and Clark County Jail, and other outpatient therapeutic environments I have had a wealth of opportunities to further my understanding and knowledge into both mental illness and substance abuse disorders. My responsibilities have included providing therapeutic intervention services to both the criminal and civil populations. My experience, education, and knowledge provide me with a unique understanding of mental illness and effective treatment modalities. I have familiarity working with the severely mentally ill, families, and groups. I have provided therapeutic services to clients from various ages and backgrounds. I am well versed at working with those whom have experienced trauma, suffer from depression, anxiety, ADHD, or a mood regulation disorder. I understand how important the therapeutic relationship and would like to work with you as we take this journey to wellness together. Though therapy can be difficult and overwhelming at times I want you to know that I am invested in your road to recovery. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to speaking with you.

Hello! My name is Tonya Carpenter and I am licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in the state of Montana. I am currently at Aware, and was previously in private practice for six years. I provided counseling services in a hospital clinical setting for three years prior to private practice. I have also worked in the school setting as a behavior intervention specialist for grades 6-12, and worked with adults with disabilities. I received my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California with an emphasis in Military and Veterans Affairs. As a veteran myself, I understand the importance of supporting our service members. I have a fairly direct and up front approach as I would rather ask a question directly than assume things are a certain way. I am able to do this while maintaining a warm, nonjudgmental approach with clients. I believe that no one is "broken" and needs to be "fixed" as I hear so many clients say, but that every person is operating in their environment the best way they know how with the tools they have. I would like to be able to go through the journey with you of creating the best quality of life possible. I am able to help clients with co-occurring disorders, substance use, PTSD, depression, anxiety, Bipolar, child abuse and neglect, communication, anger management, and other diagnosis or life stressors, but have a primary focus in trauma and military affairs. I utilize a client centered, strengths based, solution-focused approach to meet the client where they are. I also utilize evidenced based practices such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I am certified in EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing), MRT (moral reconation therapy), trauma-focused CBT, and trauma narratives. I will respond to messages within 24 hours Monday through Friday, and will do my best to accommodate you for scheduling live sessions but currently have limited availability in the evenings and some weekends. I look forward to working with you!
