Jennifer Fishman
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LCPC) in Idaho, as well as Nationally Certified Counselor, and I also hold the Graduate Certificate in Addiction Studies. I have been a counselor for 12 years in different settings, such as community agencies of different kind, as well as my own practice. Prior to becoming a counselor, I was an adult educator and worked for colleges and business schools. As an educator, I was passionate about motivating each student to find an individual “life’s path” and to use education as a tool. As a counselor, I am passionate about my clients learning about themselves through the discovery of individual strengths and unique abilities to take on the life’s journey. In each session, I strive to encourage my clients to find something about themselves they haven’t noticed before. Depending on my clients’ needs, I use many techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused and many others, but educate on these techniques in the process to help my clients “become their own counselors” and build their own “arsenal” of tools. My counseling style is fluid – I meet my clients “where they are”; at the same time, I have been told by my clients that each session with me gave them different perspective and empowered them to approach life’s problems with unexpected solutions! I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know you!

Hello and thank you for being here and reading about me. I reside in Costa Rica and I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the States of California and Oregon with over 35 years of experience in a wide variety of settings, working with differing populations and ages. I have helped others who are looking to start or maintain their healing journey or are experiencing obstacles such as depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, addictions and trauma (including multi-generational trauma). My clinical focus is on individual adult men and women from various ethnic backgrounds. It has become abundantly clear to me (especially since working within a global Telehealth format) that regardless of where we come from or our individual life story, we all share the common needs for purpose, meaning, and value in our lives. Those who have worked with me on BetterHelp know that I pay close attention to words, love metaphors, and use humor when it is appropriate to do so. My style is warm and actively engaging and my approach pulls from various sources including solution-focused, dialectical behavior, narrative, and experiential therapies. I can't believe it has been over 6 years since I joined BH. I have developed a model "in honor" of this milestone. I hope it brings clarity to you as to how I may approach your situation. I am Leeann Mickel, I have a masters degree in educational psychology with an emphasis on community counseling. I have my LPC, licensed professional counselor Masters level. I also have an LC DC licensed chemical dependency counselor. I have worked 20 + years in the field of service. I have had great success with clients who have experienced significant trauma. I have been Clinical Supervisor for a substance abuse residential setting. I am currently Clinical Director for the agency with whom I am employed at this time. I believe it to be my mission helping and serving. My approach is client centered we start where you are. I am very laid-back and personable, I have forever been told how easy it is to talk to me, even prior to my chosen career! That’s a plus when you’re a therapist! I have some clients who simply need an ear and guidance. Others are eager to get to the cause of what prompted them to reach out. Either is great. I understand that some people need to vent and receive professional advice. I tell all of my clients you have inside you now everything you need to heal and progress. My job is to guide you on the journey in this process of self discovery and healing. I also tell my clients that I will work just as hard as you in doing this, but I will never work harder. This would cause more harm by handicapping them if others around never allow my clients to learn through experience, and rob my client of demonstrating to themselves the opportunity to see how capable they actually are. I have worked with many populations: adolescents, adults with variety of disorders/conditions. Such as mental health diagnosis like depression, bi polar, anxiety, and PTSD. For the last six years I have led our adolescent program. I'm very familiar with self harming behaviors, and have a knack of being able to reach them and slowly process into self love. I also have extensive experience with grief which may look different and feel different among different clients. Even those who believe that have mourned and grieved, but truly have not. I look forward to working with you and helping you along your specific path. My schedule is very flexible, as a I only work from home, virtually/remote. During therapy it will be common to give 'experiments' following a session. The purpose for this is taking from our sessions and applying what you learn to your 'real life' outside of one session weekly for an hour.

Peter Meilahn
I help adults and teens improve focus, calm, and emotional balance—especially for ADHD, anxiety, depression, sleep issues, trauma, autism, chronic stress, and pain-related self-regulation. My approach combines personalized counseling with mindfulness and optional brain-based tools (biofeedback) that help you train attention and calm in real time—during and between sessions. We can work on immediate concerns, long-term goals, or deeper patterns. Many clients notice changes in the first week for sleep, stress, and attention, and the skills build over time. It’s similar to learning a skill like riding a bike—the changes become more natural and lasting. The tools we use support improvement not just in sessions, but while working, studying, or relaxing in daily life. You also keep these tools long-term so you can continue building focus and balance independently. I often work with people who want to become more self-directed and consistent—including professionals, entrepreneurs, and creative individuals who feel stuck between high ability and inconsistent focus or anxiety. We can: talk through your situation in a collaborative way, or use structured tools and a brain-based assessment to understand how your attention, stress, and energy patterns work—and improve them Background and experience: I have over 16 years of experience and have taught attention and regulation tools at: University of Minnesota Medical Center Minnesota Council for the Gifted and Talented Learning Disabilities Association of Minnesota I also developed a biofeedback training program used within a large Minnesota health system. I have worked extensively with: ADHD and attention challenges anxiety and panic trauma autism spectrum conditions chronic health and pain conditions veterans and high-stress professions Approach My style is practical, structured, and supportive. I draw from evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, mindfulness, and somatic strategies, while helping you build: better focus and mental clarity emotional regulation improved sleep more consistent performance at work or school stronger self-direction and follow-through The goal is not just insight—but real-world change you can feel during your day What to expect: Clients often choose this approach if they want: tools they can use between sessions a clearer understanding of how their brain responds to stress and focus a balance of conversation and structured strategies

Find a therapist near you in Unity, Oregon
Finding a therapist near you in Unity, Oregon starts with matching to a licensed professional who fits your needs, schedule, and goals. Oregon is home to people with diverse mental health needs across urban, suburban, and rural communities, which can make it challenging to find care. Whether you are searching for help with anxiety, trauma, affordable or insurance covered therapy, weekend or flexible scheduling, or virtual sessions, you can find a therapist and get started when you are ready.
Why work with a licensed therapist near you?

In Oregon, online therapy can make that care more accessible, since sessions happen from home or wherever you are, without the need to travel to an office. This can help if your schedule is full, if travel is difficult, or if you simply prefer a more discreet setting. You can learn more about what a therapist does on the therapist role page.
Online therapy can be especially helpful for people living across Oregon, where access to in-person mental health care may vary by location.

Online therapy vs. in-person therapy in Oregon
Online therapy and in-person therapy both connect you with a licensed professional, and the main difference is how you meet. In Oregon, online therapy through BetterHelp lets you have sessions by phone, video, or in-app messaging, so you can meet from home or on a schedule that fits your life. In-person therapy takes place at an office and may involve travel and set appointment windows. Online therapy may be more accessible for people with busy schedules, limited transportation, or a preference for a more discreet setting. Both formats can support meaningful progress, so the right choice often comes down to what fits your life.
