Hello there! Let me first start by saying thank you and congratulations! You should pat yourself on the back for taking the initiative to becoming a better version of yourself. Admitting that you may need guidance is hard, but here you are taking steps towards mental clarity. For that, you should be very proud of yourself, as you have crossed one of the biggest hurdles. My name is Angela, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania. I earned a masters degree in Clinical Psychology in 2013. My undergraduate degree is in Clinical/Counseling Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. I recently earned a School Counselor Certification to expand my horizon in the counseling field. For 8 years, I worked as a Psychology Services Specialist in a correctional setting (Virginia and Pennsylvania). In this setting, I worked closely with clients experiencing many issues in both individual and group settings. A lot of my time has been spent helping people manage depression, anxiety, crises, grief, trauma, substance abuse, thoughts of suicide and/or self-harm, family conflict, anger, sexuality, and identity issues. I have also been lucky to attend many trainings to strengthen my awareness in the field. I currently work as a School Counselor in a middle school and absolutely love it! I take a very client-centered approach and try to be as eclectic as possible to best meet my clients' needs. It is important that we can build a rapport combined with mutual trust to make your therapeutic experience a powerful and helpful one. I really enjoy an integrative approach that uses both cognitive-behavioral and humanistic therapy methods. I am a strong believer in mindfulness and would love to provide clients with different worksheets and techniques that would be helpful in their daily lives. Self-care is extremely important, so I will certainly be encouraging that on the regular. In my spare time, spending time with family and friends, traveling, exploring nature, reading, or hanging with my dogs is where you will find me (REMEMBER: self-care is key)!! Whether it be myself or another therapist you see fit, I absolutely hope you find what you were looking for on your journey. If I seem like someone who may fit your goals and needs, please feel free to reach out. I look forward to talking to you soon!

Karin Fils-Aime
Hi! I am Karin, a Licensed Therapist in Pennsylvania. This has been my life long dream, to be a counselor. When other kids were playing house or school, I was playing psychiatrist - though I am sure I didn't know how to spell it then! I used to write letters to my cousins that read more like a Dear Abby advice columnist than a kid's communication with their bestie. I poured over advice columns in teen magazines like, "was my face red..." and never cared about the current fashions as much as "could this marriage be save?"! So here I am, years later, living out my passion and realizing that I don't have the advice, nor do I want to! But that I have a listening spirit and clinical skill that can be of help to anyone that needs it. I lean toward Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but simply put, that means that there is a connection between what you think and then how you feel. So if you don't like how you feel, we look at what you are saying to yourself and if that is helping you to feel the way you want to feel or not! Pretty simple really. I want to help people feel as good as they possibly can right now... with the circumstances they have and with the past they have lived through. And it is possible to have lived through some really bad things and still have peace and serenity in your life. If you are not convinced, that could be a good reason why you need to work with me. Looking forward to connecting with you.

Shannon Detwiler
As a licensed therapist in Florida, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina, I specialize in working with women who feel exhausted from taking care of everyone else. Many of the women I work with have spent years being the strong one — supporting their families, managing responsibilities, and putting others first. Somewhere along the way, they began to lose touch with their own needs, identity, and sense of self. You may find yourself wondering, “Why do I feel guilty when I try to prioritize myself?” or “When did I stop knowing what I actually want?” These patterns often show up as anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, or a deep sense of burnout. My work focuses on helping women reconnect with who they truly are beneath the roles and expectations they’ve carried for so long. Together, we explore the patterns that keep you stuck in people-pleasing, self-doubt, and over-responsibility while building the confidence and self-trust needed to create healthier boundaries and more fulfilling relationships. I strive to create a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can safely explore your inner world, process past experiences, and rediscover your voice. Through our work together, my goal is to help you move from feeling overwhelmed and disconnected to feeling grounded, confident, and more aligned with your authentic self. You deserve a life where your needs matter too.
