Hello. I have spent nearly 20 years in the Human Services field and after earning my counseling psychology degree, it became even more clear how to best help others through the counseling process. Counseling is a process of self-discovery and being able to help people learn how to deal more effectively with situations in their lives appeals to my fascination with the human condition. It is important to build a therapeutic relationship so we are able to get a deeper understanding of your thoughts and emotions to support you in feeling better and moving forward. I utilize a variety of approaches, but commonly employ cognitive behavioral and solution focused approaches, and motivational interviewing techniques to explore issues including, but not limited to, depression, addiction and substance abuse, stress, anger, anxiety, problems with self- esteem, grief, issues related to mental and emotional health, and relational problems. I will meet you with unconditional positive regard and respect. Using active listening and reflections, my approach is individualized and client centered so as to support you in achieving your potential along with your goals and objectives. It is really powerful having trouble imagining a problem being solved, and as we work together, change and understanding both will happen along the way. I look forward to working with you! Take good care, and talk soon.

Hello! I am Dr. Rose. I am a psychologist with 15 years of experience providing therapy services. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Cincinnati VA Medical Hospital and obtained my graduate education from Indiana State University. I am dually licensed in Wisconsin and Indiana. While residing in Indiana, I worked in a very rural and low income area. I am currently based in Wisconsin, where I have the opportunity to work with individuals from both the more populated areas, as well as the rural areas. Additionally, I am based along the I94 corridor, so I have an interest in providing treatment to individuals who are victims of sex trafficking. Other populations I have a strong interest in working with are the LGBTQ+ population, specifically transgender individuals. I also work with individuals with depression, Bipolar, anxiety, ADHD, anger, trauma, self-esteem, and relationship problems. In my work with individuals, I find that it can often be helpful to explore the impact that the childhood upbringing and nuclear family has on present problems and relationships. I typically use an eclectic approach in sessions, adopting a variety of techniques. Some techniques I typically use are Psychodynamic, mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-centered Therapy. However, I most often use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. My therapeutic approach is first, and foremost, to be real. You can always expect that I will give you honest and direct answers. I am a caring provider and I want you to succeed in being the best person you can be. I will work closely with you as a team to help you accomplish your treatment goals. I do hold the national Psychologist license, which gives you some flexibility in where you have your therapy sessions. However, not every state participates in the national license. If you plan to travel and want to have a therapy session during your travels, please check with me to ensure you will be located in a participating state.

Hello! I am here for you, to listen and guide. What exactly does that mean? I understand the issues that you bring to our sessions are very important to you. You deserve to be heard. And in the process of listening to you, I intend to question and comment, giving you compassion, reflection, and the sum total of my expertise. That experience is broad and complex. I have a master's degree in Educational Psychology from The University of Wisconsin-- Milwaukee (1983) and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Wisconsin. In August of 2014, I also earned a Certificate of Completion from The University of Wisconsin-- Madison, focused on the topic of Mental Health and the Older Adult. It was important to me to back up my experience with scientific evidence regarding the aging process. After teaching middle school students for 15 years, I discovered that the best part of the school day was counseling individuals after school! So I became a guidance counselor, working in the same school long enough to counsel the children of my former students. I progressed into in-home therapy, working with teens who had a "brush" with the law. Rather than put them in detention, a judge would send them back home, to the same school, but with a counselor (like me!) who worked with them in both the school setting as well as the home setting. I eventually worked with another organization that specialized in helping Medicaid families. They needed counseling in child rearing, budgeting, time management, and basic survival skills. My therapeutic style is eclectic, that is, I use a variety of techniques to reach the goals you, the client, set in the beginning of our relationship. I do more listening than speaking. I move as fast or as slowly as you choose. Hopefully, you will trust me enough to be honest with me, knowing I won't judge you or hurt you with my words. I believe that people can change. If you are ready, I would love to support you in your journey. It would be a privilege to work with you.

I have thirty five years of experience serving people with a variety of issues. I work comfortably with individuals, couples, and families of any age and ethnicity. I have advanced training experiences in Family-Systems Therapy, and Motivational Interview. When I am given the honor of serving someone, I will offer an approach that feels most comfortable, and is the most effective for that person. Your experience, history, and current issues should guide the work we do together. I can use a quick 'solutions' focus. However the depth, complexity, and confusion of your experience will guide the style and pace of our work. I am a 72 year old Christian man with the experiences of marriage, divorce, a blended and inter-racial family, non-binary family members, vocational issues, addiction recovery, and ADHD. I can counsel from a Christian perspective, if you prefer. You will be my partner in the formation and execution of your treatment plan. I started out working with adult mental health individuals with schizophrenia and bipolar disorders. During my internship, I was exposed to working with severely abused and neglected children. This experience was what inspired me to work with children and families. I now provide individual and family therapy sessions targeting anger management for children and at-risk teenagers. My passion has always been to help bring about changes in the lives of individuals and families while partnering with them to create hope in their future. In 2009, I went into Private Practice. I now work with children, adults, and families, providing individual and family therapy sessions. I also work with adult survivors of childhood abuse. My focus is to help them heal from their trauma and overcome related issues and problems that could develop due to their abuse. These could range from depression, anxiety, PTSD, panic attacks and stress. I work with many individuals and couples in relationship building. I counsel couples with relationship and divorce issues, anger management and domestic violence. Find a therapist near you in Berlin, Wisconsin

Finding a therapist near you in Berlin, Wisconsin starts with matching to a licensed professional who fits your needs, schedule, and goals. Wisconsin is home to people with diverse mental health needs across urban, suburban, and rural communities, which can make it challenging to find care. BetterHelp connects you with a licensed therapist through tailored matching, so you can begin care from home or wherever works for you.

The network includes over 30,000 licensed therapists globally, and over 4 million people have used BetterHelp to find support through online therapy. During matching, 93% of user preferences are met, which helps you connect with a therapist suited to what you are looking for. Whether you are searching for help with anxiety, trauma, affordable or insurance covered therapy, weekend or flexible scheduling, or virtual sessions, you can find a therapist and get started when you are ready.

Why work with a licensed therapist near you?

Working with a licensed therapist near you gives you access to professional mental health support from someone trained to help you understand and manage what you are going through. A licensed therapist can offer evidence-based approaches, a steady space to talk, and guidance tailored to your situation. In Wisconsin, online therapy can make that care more accessible, since sessions happen from home or wherever you are, without the need to travel to an office. This can help if your schedule is full, if travel is difficult, or if you simply prefer a more discreet setting. You can learn more about what a therapist does on the therapist role page.

Online therapy can be especially helpful for people living across Wisconsin, where access to in-person mental health care may vary by location.

What concerns can therapists help with?

Therapists can help with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety and stress, depression, trauma and PTSD, self-esteem and identity, people-pleasing and fear of rejection, insomnia and racing thoughts, workplace stress and burnout, substance use, parenting and co-parenting stress, grief and loss, and relationship and family challenges. Therapists on BetterHelp may draw on approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), depending on your needs and goals. You can explore support for specific concerns on pages such as generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and eating disorders.

Please note that therapists on BetterHelp do not provide psychiatric medication management or formal diagnoses.

Online therapy vs. in-person therapy in Wisconsin

Online therapy and in-person therapy both connect you with a licensed professional, and the main difference is how you meet. In Wisconsin, online therapy through BetterHelp lets you have sessions by phone, video, or in-app messaging, so you can meet from home or on a schedule that fits your life. In-person therapy takes place at an office and may involve travel and set appointment windows. Online therapy may be more accessible for people with busy schedules, limited transportation, or a preference for a more discreet setting. Both formats can support meaningful progress, so the right choice often comes down to what fits your life.

Finding a therapist that accepts insurance in Wisconsin
