Jennifer Bicknese
My name is Jennifer Bicknese, ATR-BC, LPC. I am a Board Certified and Licensed Professional Counselor. I am licensed in the state of Pennsylvania and have 11 years of counseling experience. I have worked in an outpatient facility with children, an outpatient facility with adolescents and adults, and a residential facility with individuals diagnosed with bipolar and schizophrenia. I have the most experience working with, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, sexual identity, LGBTQ community, life stressors, grief and loss, and anger management. I utilize two different methods of counseling. The first one is the practice of Art Therapy. Art Therapy is a non-verbal way to express feelings and work on overcoming obstacles. If a client is open to trying Art Therapy, there are many techniques I can provide to help with life stressors. By providing a therapy using art supplies, such as, paint, colored pencils crayons, markers, clay, etc., a client can discover key themes in their artwork. Through learning about these key themes, a client can better discover their own way of finding personal solutions to their goals of therapy. The second practice I utilize is a Person-Centered Approach. A Person-Centered Approach basically means I want to help a client find ways in which to overcome stressors through positive support and understanding. By using a Person-Centered Approach, I help to guide a client into reaching their own personal growth and change. I do this by assisting clients with what they feel needs to be worked through. I am here to listen and support, with no judgement present. It is my aim to empower and motivate clients through the therapy process. I look forward to learning more about you and helping you achieve all the goals you have set forth. Thank you for looking at my profile and allowing me to help you achieve a happier and healthier life.

I take a holistic approach to counseling in that we will consider internal and external influences on your thoughts feelings and emotions. My many years in the corporate world as an executive for a significant family business helped prepare me for my work as a professional addictions and substance abuse counseling. Not only did it condition me with the tools of awareness, acceptance and compromise in the face of diversity and difficulties, but also it taught me never to give up: keep looking for options and solutions even in the times of darkest trouble. As an executive managing hundreds of employees it would have been easy for me to assume that my perspective on life was the only one that mattered. Fortunately, my own struggles managing relationship and emotional challenges taught me that everyone has a right to their own perspective and feelings. I endeavor to listen intently to my clients, be open and honest with my feedback and always honor and protect the right of the people I work with to make their own decisions in life. As a former high school teacher, wrestling coach and girls soccer coach, I have experience with teenagers and parents and have helped resolve family conflicts. My work experiences took me on a career path through many states, Oregon, Oklahoma, Arizona and California before returning to our 4th generation family business in Pennsylvania. As such, I have experienced many different cultures and life styles. As a former 20 year board of director of a billion dollar bank, I have experience working and connecting with other business leaders in Pennsylvania. As a counselor, this gives me a unique insight into the world of high finance and connects me with the culture and work ethic of the corporate world. My work in professional counseling and the addictions psychology field in particular gives me an opportunity to practice what I've learned and share those benefits with others. When problems beset us and challenges threaten to overwhelm us, looking for who's to blame is a waste of time. Rather, I've come to realize that the best use of energy and life strategy is to find ways to accept reality, deal with facts without denial and grow into greater levels of maturity as a result. I am no stranger to life transitions and with my counseling skill sets, I make that experience available in creative ways to my clients. I cannot change my clients. Only they can change themselves. My goal as a professional counselor is to help clients find the ways and means to modify their behavior so that they are able to take better care of themselves. My Website is Transitionsamerica.com

At Macrame Psychotherapy we know life can leave us with tangled knots—woven from trauma, loss, difficult experiences, and overwhelming emotions. Like the intricate knots of macramé, each thread tells a story. Some are carefully woven with intention, while others have formed through pain, uncertainty, or life's unexpected challenges. In therapy, we don't rush to undo every knot. Instead, we gently explore each thread with curiosity, compassion, and care, honoring your experiences and the strength that has carried you this far. Together, we can begin to understand the patterns that have shaped your life, loosen the knots that no longer serve you, and weave new pathways toward healing. Using a trauma-informed, collaborative approach, I provide a safe and supportive space where healing unfolds at your own pace. As we work together, you can cultivate resilience, deepen your connection with yourself, and create a life woven with greater clarity, purpose, and hope. Just as every knot in macramé contributes to the beauty and strength of the finished piece, every part of your story matters. Healing isn't about erasing your past—it's about weaving your experiences into a future that reflects your resilience, authenticity, and renewed sense of self.

Online therapy and in-person therapy both connect you with a licensed professional, and the main difference is how you meet.
