Miguel De la fuente
I am a mental health counselor licensed in the state of Texas. Professionally, I have a little over 3 years of experience. I have been a fitness/life coach for over 20 years and I am a veteran with 10 years of service. Therefore, in both positions I have had the honor to provide counseling and guidance to hundreds of individuals in all areas and walks of life. Currently, I work as a mental health counselor at a Behavioral Hospital. Our main focus is to attend to the crisis at hand, utilizing brief and swift psychotherapy. Once patients are stable, I provide psychotherapy or psychoeducation in accord to their main problems or obstacles. I have worked with patients and clients with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, substance/alcohol, and sexual abuse. Been a Hispanic male veteran with personal experience in dealing with mental health, I understand the stigmatization and the cultural sensitivity that is needed to provide support for any and all individuals. Therefore, I get to work more often with patients and their families, who struggle with PTSD and other military related trauma. I am a Christian and follow Christian principles, therefore, I believe in treating all individuals with outmost respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My counseling style is assertive and direct, but empathic and compassionate, all at once. My approach is eclectic, hence, it is a combination of cognitive-behavioral, spiritual, psychodynamic and positive psychology. I am able and willing to adapt to any form of counseling and treatment as required by the patient or client, in order to meet your specific needs and unique obstacle. Lastly, I am currently finishing my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. Hence, I am constantly learning new ways of improving my skills, knowledge, and attaining more tools to better serve my patients and clients. I personally understand the courage and confidence that it is needed to accept that one needs help and seek that help in order to better one’s life and improve quality of life, for you and those around you. I am excited and look forward to providing guidance and effective therapy.

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or tired of talking about the same problems without real change? I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas who works with adults, teens, and veterans navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and everyday stressors. My style is straightforward, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that therapy should feel useful, not abstract or endless. I come from a background in education and counseling, and I’m especially drawn to working with veterans, adolescents, and clients who value practical tools alongside thoughtful conversation. I also have experience supporting individuals and families impacted by autism and neurodiversity, and I approach this work with patience, clarity, and respect for each person’s pace and goals. In sessions, I draw from evidence based approaches such as CBT, solution focused therapy, and trauma informed care, while staying flexible to what actually works for you. I don’t believe in one size fits all therapy. We focus on understanding patterns, building coping strategies, and making meaningful progress at a pace that feels realistic. Sessions are calm, direct, and engaging. We take the work seriously, but not ourselves. If you’re looking for a therapist who is grounded, honest, and genuinely invested in helping you move forward, I’d be glad to work with you.
Carolyn Smith
Carolyn Smith is a retired 20-year Army veteran and Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas with a deep-seated passion for human empowerment. She is particularly dedicated to supporting young adults, military veterans, and individuals from diverse backgrounds as they navigate the path toward meaningful personal transformation. Carolyn’s mission is simple: for you to author the book of your life, not the book that was handed to you. Her clinical approach is a sophisticated blend of evidence-based practices and a holistic understanding of mental wellness. Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, Carolyn works collaboratively with her clients to: Heal from past experiences and inherited narratives. Develop stronger communication skills and a practice of radical self-love. Build lasting resilience and self-understanding. Create sustainable strategies for long-term emotional well-being. Whether you are transitioning out of the military, navigating the complexities of young adulthood, or seeking to break free from external expectations, Carolyn provides the strategic guidance and empathetic support needed to become the ideal version of yourself.
