Emily Gutierrez
Welcome! My name is Emily and I am a licensed professional counselor in the states of Maine, New Hampshire and Wisconsin. I have over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field. I feel so committed to this kind of work; the ability to partner with others and help them see their strengths and abilities to empower them. I strive to create a healing space where growth, understanding and change can occur. I love the quote by Carl Jung, "We are not what happened to us, we are who we choose to become." This is what I think therapy is all about; guiding others to embrace that their past does not define them. This is not just a philosophy or modality of a treatment. It is a way of being and seeing in the world, a way of seeing the potential and nobility in anything or anyone. Chad Taylor
Hello! I am glad that you have chosen Better Help to guide you through whatever difficult situation that you are facing. My name is Chad Taylor, and I am originally from Illinois where I was born and raised for the first 38 years of my life. I spent my time right out of high school working for the Illinois Department of Corrections then decided to go back to school to pursue a new career. I graduated from Western Illinois University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. After I graduated, I thought about going into ministry, but I decided to pursue counseling. I continued my education through Lincoln Christian University, and graduated in 2015 with a Masters Degree in Counseling. I operate out of Cognitive Behavioral Framework with Motivational Interviewing. I have also been certified in Anger Management with the National Anger Management Association. I spent the first two years after graduation working in the community mental health field. Then I spent two years as a Clinical Therapist at the Illinois Department of Human Services Treatment and Detention Facility where I worked with sexually violent persons who were civilly committed under the Illinois Civil Commitment Act. After my time there I decided to go back to community mental health. When on a vacation to Wisconsin Dells I decided to look for a counseling job in Wisconsin and through a series of events and numerous trips to the area I was hired and moved to the area in March of 2019, and I have loved every minute of it. In my spare time I like to hangout with my family, read, play chess and watch football. I look forward to meeting with you and helping you on your journey.
Dr. Rosita "Rose" Fernandez
Hello! I am Dr. Rose. I am a psychologist with 15 years of experience providing therapy services. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Cincinnati VA Medical Hospital and obtained my graduate education from Indiana State University. I am dually licensed in Wisconsin and Indiana. While residing in Indiana, I worked in a very rural and low income area. I am currently based in Wisconsin, where I have the opportunity to work with individuals from both the more populated areas, as well as the rural areas. Additionally, I am based along the I94 corridor, so I have an interest in providing treatment to individuals who are victims of sex trafficking. Other populations I have a strong interest in working with are the LGBTQ+ population, specifically transgender individuals. I also work with individuals with depression, Bipolar, anxiety, ADHD, anger, trauma, self-esteem, and relationship problems. In my work with individuals, I find that it can often be helpful to explore the impact that the childhood upbringing and nuclear family has on present problems and relationships. I typically use an eclectic approach in sessions, adopting a variety of techniques. Some techniques I typically use are Psychodynamic, mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-centered Therapy. However, I most often use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. My therapeutic approach is first, and foremost, to be real. You can always expect that I will give you honest and direct answers. I am a caring provider and I want you to succeed in being the best person you can be. I will work closely with you as a team to help you accomplish your treatment goals. I do hold the national Psychologist license, which gives you some flexibility in where you have your therapy sessions. However, not every state participates in the national license. If you plan to travel and want to have a therapy session during your travels, please check with me to ensure you will be located in a participating state.

Steven Nordeen
I am a licensed counselor and a certified rehabilitation counselor operating in Wisconsin. I’ve worked in many colorful and exciting fields and alongside and for many incredible people: I most recently served as a counselor with the state's Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. I've practiced within the community (Madison, WI) as a case manager and a forensic mental health counselor for approximately 4 years - helping folks that had severe and persistent mental illnesses navigate their wellness and the courts. Prior to becoming a counselor, I worked as an agent for the Department of Corrections. I was a trained financial planner, a licensed airplane mechanic (A&P), and I've moved pianos up and down hot narrow stairways in Houston, TX. My style and substance are client-centered and very heavily influenced by Rogerian or humanistic psychology. I am not the boss within my clients’ lives. And I strongly believe in counselors maintaining unconditional and positive regard for all clients, past, present, and future, but additionally, to maintain rationalism about what may be going on in someone's life, and above all else, that we be 100% honest with all of our people.
