I am a licensed professional counselor doing business as Jones Professional Counseling, LLC in Conway, Arkansas. I graduated from Hendrix College in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. I earned my master’s degree in professional psychology from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in 1998. My grandfather, who in addition to being a terrific companion in any outdoor activity, was one of the first PhD psychologists in the state of Missouri, and very influential in my decision to be a licensed professional counselor. And I, too, love spending time outdoors. Most of my work has been with youth and adults who have personal, family and/or relationship issues. I find that using combinations of the individualized cognitive behavioral therapy approach (CBT) and important aspects of the Humanistic and Psychodynamic approaches has been the most effective and useful therapeutic tools for my clients. After earning my master’s degree in 1998, I began working with emotionally challenged youth at Boys’ and Girls’ Town in St. James, Missouri. There, I helped my clients individually, with their parents and in groups to help them overcome issues such as problems with authority figures, various abuse issues, problems with anxiety and low self-esteem. Most of my clients were children, adolescents and their guardians. This often involved providing parents and foster parents with the support and guidance they needed to care for their children who were dealing problems such as autism or ADHD. Like my grandfather, I have gained wisdom and much satisfaction in helping others. My work experience has led me from helping emotionally challenged youth in an outdoor setting to helping them along with their families in inpatient and outpatient situations in my office, in their homes, and virtually online through Better Help, Incorporated. This has often involved helping adults, children and adolescents with a variety of other issues including substance abuse, oppositional or conduct disorder, and relationship issues. Respectfully yours, F. Dunn Jones, MA, LPC, NBCC If you are in crisis and need to talk to someone NOW, call or text 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), or call 866-903-3787 (the National Mental Health Hotline-MHH).

I believe life is a process filled with opportunities to learn and grow. I see myself as a guide to help you travel down difficult paths when you feel stuck, lost, or helpless. I will not give you answers but I will help you search for them. The counseling process is just that – a process. While there are no guarantees for the outcome of the counseling, I will work with you to determine counseling goals and treatment plans to help you in your situation. I utilize an Attachment based focus as part of therapy incorporating CBT and DBT techniques. Should the need arise, I can offer a Christian and Biblical perspective. Prior to becoming a counselor, I worked in the defense and telecom industries. I was married for 25 years until my wife succumbed to a rare form of dementia. I took care of her the last six years of her life while I was also learning to become a counselor. I understand the effects of dementia, life as a caregiver, depression, grief and loss as well as the experience of starting over. Life can be difficult. Do not travel these difficult paths alone. Counseling has become a third career for me but talking to and helping people has been a lifelong experience and joy. I am licensed in Texas and Arkansas.
