15 years offering treatment

Hello, and thanks for wanting to learn more about me. My name is Neville Harson, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Colorado. I've been a practicing therapist for over 15 years, and have practiced therapy in a variety of settings. I've worked with teens, adults and seniors; people who were ready to make a change in their lives, people who were going through difficult transitions. My goal is to co-create a working relationship with you where personal transformation is possible. I don't have a "one-size-fits-all" approach to therapy. I meet clients where they are, and recognize that at different times, and for different people, different approaches are needed. The approach I use most often is Cognitive-Behavioral. What that means is that I'll be asking you not only how you think and feel about an event or person, but what you tell yourself about it. I find it most helpful to assess a client's strengths, rather than to diagnose their problems. I can also take a solution-focused approach. This is an approach where we focus on one problem, and without going too deep, we come up with a solution or resolution to that problem. At times, I wear a more traditional therapist hat, asking questions and encouraging you to explore your thoughts, feelings and actions. I may also act as a coach, giving you encouragement and providing emotional support as you do what it takes to make changes in your life. I can be direct, calling you on your old patterns when I see them. I can also listen and witness when you are in the vulnerable place of speaking from your heart. Your goals are important to me! In my non-therapist life, I am a musician and photographer, and have a wide appreciation for the arts. If you are someone who considers yourself to be creative in any way, I'd love to work with you. Creative people often "get" other creative people--the way we move through the world in a slightly different way, and the creative challenges we set up for ourselves.

Hello, Welcome to the Better Help Community. My name is Antoinette, and I am a licensed professional counselor in Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Kansas, South Dakota, and Virginia. I have been working in the mental health field for over 20 years. I have worked with individuals experiencing a variety of issues including grief and loss, depression, anxiety, marital concerns, women issues, workplace stressors, family conflict, and issues related to military families. I would describe my approach as goal-oriented, and client-centered. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Both modalities are hands-on, practical approaches to problem-solving. CBT treatment usually involves efforts to change thinking patterns and or behaviors. The goals are to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind difficult situations, and so change the way one feels. This helps people identify unhelpful ways of thinking as they learn better ways of coping with life's stressors. It would be my privilege to become a partner in your journey while helping you to figure out your goals. I will provide a supportive and understanding environment that offers a clear direction with specific strategies to assist with your current stressors. I look forward to helping/serving you!

I am a retired 20yr military veteran, raised 4 girls on my own (I graduated from parenting school after they left the house!! Lol.), licensed in Colorado with 11 years of professional therapy work experience and over 23 years of mental health experience. I am a certified Anger Management and Emotional Intelligence Instructor. DISCLAIMER: I am a "Reality Therapist." I am also going to challenge you. I can be blunt, but harmless. :-). If you are ready for a healthy challenge to think about changing things for yourself, improve your quality of life, and/or needing some uplifting/empowerment, I am that Therapist! What this means is, reality therapy sees current behavior as choices, and it teaches us that while we cannot control how we feel, we can control how we think and behave. We choose to behave in certain ways and these choices can help or hamper the ability to satisfy essential needs and reach individual goals. This therapy also uses choice theory, the behaviors we choose are key to our accountability and who we are. The goal of this type of therapy is to help people take control of improving their own lives by learning to make better choices. (Psychology Today). I have also provided support to clients needing help managing stress and anxiety/panic attacks, anger, motivation, self-esteem, improving confidence, past substance use, and depressive symptoms. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor your session and goals to meet your specific needs. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage and I am here to support you in that process. Just remember, mistakes are proof that you are trying your best. Thank you for allowing me to help you!

Should I find a Haxtun therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what it might entail. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or specific condition. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Haxtun licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a counselor can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.

Is therapy worth it?

Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. An experienced clinician can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. For this reason, seeing an evidence based licensed clinician in Haxtun, Colorado can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you.
