Hello- I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been working in this field for over 20 years in various behavioral healthcare positions. I enjoy my profession! There are not many professions that challenge you as a practitioner to grow and develop just as much as the clients . I like to think of counseling as the gift that keeps on giving! If you met me about 24 years ago, I would have introduce myself as a elementary school teacher who loves working with children. I enjoyed my profession but I was not fulfilled. Through a series of highs and lows in my life, educators, family, friends and sometimes strangers were strategically placed at various points of my life which tilted me like a pinball in an arcade game to what I feel I was truly meant to do with my life. I guess you can tell I was an english literature major! I truly believe that every life has value and purpose. Sometimes it takes some of us longer than others to figure out what that purpose is but although we are apart of the human race, life is not a race. I have experience working in hospital settings, non-profit agencies, as well as private practice. Everyone will not agree with the choices that we make in our lives but if we can look in the mirror and be happy with the person you see looking back at you, you've won! I try to provide my clients with a safe place to learn, grow and sometimes to simply breathe and put yourself first. There is not one definition of happiness. Every person's idea of happiness is different and unique. I would welcome the opportunity to hear your idea of happiness and if you do not know it right now, help you define happiness for you. I look forward to hearing from you soon! My name is Margaret Sicari, but please call me Peggy. I am a Clinical Social Worker licensed in the state of New York where I have been practicing for over 25 years. I've been a therapist in private practice, a clinician in an agency, a social worker in a high school, a clinical supervisor and Director in a program. I have worked with individuals, couples, families and groups. My experience in a variety of settings and positions have resulted in me working with a diversity of people with a diversity of life challenges. The most common issues clients present are anxiety and depression, relationship problems, emotional abuse, childhood trauma, damaged self-esteem and poor coping skills. I have also worked extensively with individuals and families struggling with substance use disorders, intervening to assist clients in achieving and sustaining recovery and supporting the family members impacted by the disease including ACOA's (Adult Children of Alcoholics and other addictions). Counseling is an interactive and collaborative process. What we focus on and how we focus on it is determined by us discussing and agreeing on the plan for achieving your goals. Making you feel comfortable and building a trusting relationship is essential to your success and a top priority for me as we begin our work together. I am here to assist in broadening your understanding of yourself and your situation; building on your strengths and adding new tools to your coping skills; and finding the best path for resolving your current life challenges. You have take the first difficulty step and reached out for help. I look forward to being the person who take the next one with you.

Hello! Pleasure to meet you. My name is Michelle Merindino, LMHC. I am a Licensed Counselor in the State of NY. Much of my experience have been working with clients diagnosed with mood or personality disorders, depression, anxiety, etc . However, I strongly believe that therapy is a beneficial tool for absolutely anyone who is seeking to navigate life challenges in a healthy way, and improve daily functioning to meet their highest potential. My perspective is primarily person centered and humanistic , in which I create a safe, empathetic and non-judgmental space, while guiding you through interpersonal changes, processing emotions, self awareness, and healing. I hope to build a therapeutic relationship based on trust and respect. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we can examine patterns of unhealthy thoughts or feelings. Developing a deeper understanding of the role these patterns play in dysfunctional behaviors, will allow space to both challenge and break these cycles. I do not believe that one counseling approach fits all. When practicing, I aim to apply different modalities, and tailor therapy to best serve a client’s unique needs, circumstances and goals. I commend you for taking this courageous step! I look forward to assisting you in processes that include self exploration, learning coping strategies, considering new perspectives, building confidence, utilizing effective communication, recognizing destructive patterns, and any other therapeutic goals that will aide you in overcoming barriers to ultimately achieve the best, most fulfilled version of yourself.
