Hello and thank you for being here and reading about me. I reside in Costa Rica and I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the States of California and Oregon with over 35 years of experience in a wide variety of settings, working with differing populations and ages. I have helped others who are looking to start or maintain their healing journey or are experiencing obstacles such as depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, addictions and trauma (including multi-generational trauma). My clinical focus is on individual adult men and women from various ethnic backgrounds. It has become abundantly clear to me (especially since working within a global Telehealth format) that regardless of where we come from or our individual life story, we all share the common needs for purpose, meaning, and value in our lives. Those who have worked with me on BetterHelp know that I pay close attention to words, love metaphors, and use humor when it is appropriate to do so. My style is warm and actively engaging and my approach pulls from various sources including solution-focused, dialectical behavior, narrative, and experiential therapies. I can't believe it has been over 6 years since I joined BH. I have developed a model "in honor" of this milestone. I hope it brings clarity to you as to how I may approach your situation. Cynthia Mickel
I am Leeann Mickel, I have a masters degree in educational psychology with an emphasis on community counseling. I have my LPC, licensed professional counselor Masters level. I also have an LC DC licensed chemical dependency counselor. I have worked 20 + years in the field of service. I have had great success with clients who have experienced significant trauma. I have been Clinical Supervisor for a substance abuse residential setting. I am currently Clinical Director for the agency with whom I am employed at this time. I believe it to be my mission helping and serving. My approach is client centered we start where you are. I am very laid-back and personable, I have forever been told how easy it is to talk to me, even prior to my chosen career! That’s a plus when you’re a therapist! I have some clients who simply need an ear and guidance. Others are eager to get to the cause of what prompted them to reach out. Either is great. I understand that some people need to vent and receive professional advice. I tell all of my clients you have inside you now everything you need to heal and progress. My job is to guide you on the journey in this process of self discovery and healing. I also tell my clients that I will work just as hard as you in doing this, but I will never work harder. This would cause more harm by handicapping them if others around never allow my clients to learn through experience, and rob my client of demonstrating to themselves the opportunity to see how capable they actually are. I have worked with many populations: adolescents, adults with variety of disorders/conditions. Such as mental health diagnosis like depression, bi polar, anxiety, and PTSD. For the last six years I have led our adolescent program. I'm very familiar with self harming behaviors, and have a knack of being able to reach them and slowly process into self love. I also have extensive experience with grief which may look different and feel different among different clients. Even those who believe that have mourned and grieved, but truly have not. I look forward to working with you and helping you along your specific path. My schedule is very flexible, as a I only work from home, virtually/remote. During therapy it will be common to give 'experiments' following a session. The purpose for this is taking from our sessions and applying what you learn to your 'real life' outside of one session weekly for an hour.
Angela Harmon
Good day, my name is Angela Harmon and I have been counseling for 13 years. I believe every person has worth, and some time we need support and guidance to find the worth in ourselves. I would like to be part of that journey, exploring who you are, while working through the issues such as anxiety, depression, and past traumas. I use mindfulness cognitive behavioral therapy along with psychophysiology of depression, stress, anxiety, and even trauma and how it effects our body. I look forward to starting this journey with you.
Daniel Klinkert
I became motivated to pursue a career in psychotherapy through my lived experience as a trauma survivor and a recovering addict. My specialties include treating depression, anxiety, relationship issues, chemical dependency, process addictions, and trauma-related disorders. I am fortunate to have had a rewarding and successful career in the mental health field which includes working for 18 years as a fully licensed therapist, providing over 10,000 hours of individual and group psychotherapy, running my own professional training company, and doing research into psychosocial rehabilitation models. My approach to psychotherapy is very client-centered and while I am eager to learn and apply a wide variety of treatment modalities I believe this work is highly individualized. I enjoy working with a diverse client base and my priorities are to build strong relationships and work with clients to apply their individual strengths towards whatever life challenges they are seeking to overcome.
Jacob Germany
I'm a therapist that focuses on techniques and strategies that work, and I see progress with my clients pretty quickly. I'm licensed in Oklahoma with 14 years of experience as a therapist and over 17 years of experience in mental health. I have experience in helping clients with executive functioning (ADHD and autism), stress and anxiety, queer/lgbtq+ issues, Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID/multiple personalities), & coping with life changes. I use many therapeutic models or perspectives, primarily focusing on how systemic and institutional barriers affect mental, emotional, and behavioral health and well-being. I'm queer-friendly. I strongly believe anyone and everyone can benefit from therapy. I do not use or believe in the "medical model" of mental health, so I do not attempt to "cure" "mental illness", but recognize that mental health is complicated and "mental illness" is mostly a survival response.

Why work with a licensed therapist near you?

This can help if your schedule is full, if travel is difficult, or if you simply prefer a more discreet setting. You can learn more about what a therapist does on the therapist role page.

Online therapy vs. in-person therapy in Oregon
Online therapy and in-person therapy both connect you with a licensed professional, and the main difference is how you meet. In-person therapy takes place at an office and may involve travel and set appointment windows.
