My approach centers on helping my clients gain insight into unwanted thoughts and behaviors utilizing a collaborative approach. My goal is to create a peaceful and safe place for my clients to explore past and present stressors that contribute to difficulty in their emotional and behavioral functioning. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Coastal Carolina University in 2011 and my Masters Degree in Applied Clinical Psychology in 2014. I am a LPC & Certified Health Coach through ACE Fitness. I have worked across multiple domains including private practice & agency settings working with diverse populations including children, adolescents, families, couples, and individuals. I utilize techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. Together these techniques allow my clients to cope and heal from past issues and trauma while simultaneously processing through current stressors & issues. I rely heavily on helping my clients become the expert of their lives and their healing; providing an empathetic and healing experience in which their feelings are validated, and they are able to explore experiences and feelings that have been previously internalized. I want my clients to find peace within their lives.

I am a therapist that genuinely hopes the best for my clients and works to reach treatment expectations as determined by my clients. My experiences in life have provided insight to the struggles and difficulties life presents. I am a Generation Xer having been born in 1966. Most of my formative years were spent in Ohio. My family moved to South Carolina right as I entered into high school. Sports has played an important role in my life. My hopes of getting into recreation management was redirected in college. I discovered the Family Therapy course offered one semester in college and enrolled. I thoroughly enjoyed the course. So, that lead me into the pursuit of becoming a psychotherapist. The path of obtaining higher education and licensure as a professional counselor took me to Texas. I received my initial training through a seminary my grandfather attended in the early 1920s. In 1989, I married and moved to Texas to follow my dream. The training I received has served me well. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the modality of choice for me in my practice. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy puts the emphasis on thoughts that lead to feelings which in turn manifest in our behaviors. Aiming to address the way we think and correct it can significantly impact lasting change to behaviors. I feel strongly about connecting with my clients and working toward a therapeutic alliance. Doing my best to give clients information, encouragement has been a successful formula in my practice.

Kerry Wischusen
Hi, I'm Kerry, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in South Carolina. I'm glad you're here. A lot of people come to therapy carrying more than they realize. My work is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and over years of practice I've come to understand acceptance as something built through three connected skills. Presence is the ability to stay grounded in the here and now, with a workable relationship to the thoughts that try to pull you elsewhere. Ease is the practice of intentionally calming an overactivated nervous system, not by avoiding what's hard, but by learning your body's own pathways back to steadiness. Compassion is a warmth toward your own difficulty rather than a war against it. I bring two lenses to this work. I'm trained in mindfulness meditation and yoga, so I understand contemplative practice from the inside, as a lived discipline and not just a technique to hand someone. I also stay closely connected to the neuroscience of emotional regulation and behavior change, so the support I offer holds both the science and the felt experience of being human. Above all, I'm a deep listener. Before we get to tools or frameworks, I want to understand you: your patterns, your history, what "hard" actually feels like in your body and your day. Good therapy is built on that kind of attention. If you're navigating anxiety, emotional dysregulation, relationship difficulty, or a persistent sense of being disconnected from yourself, I'd be glad to work alongside you.
Ashley Jackson
I grew up hearing things like, "therapy isn't for Black people" and "what happens in this house, stays in this house." First of all, both of those statements are a lie. Second, while trust and privacy matter, not at the expense of your mental health. Let's be real. Life be lifing. We all need support at different points in our lives, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for it. You're probably showing up for everyone else. Your employer. Your children. Your partner. Your family. You're making sure everyone else is okay while quietly carrying the weight of your own experiences. But who's showing up for you? Who's holding space for you? That's where I come in. Sometimes, from the outside, it looks like you have it all together while internally you're struggling to keep your head above water. Maybe you've spent years surviving and have become so good at it that no one realizes you're hurting. Together, we'll identify the things that are weighing on you, unpack the trauma and triggers that continue to show up in your life, and learn practical ways to manage them so that you're not just surviving, but healing. What sets me apart as a clinician is my ability to combine clinical expertise, cultural awareness, and genuine human connection. I provide a compassionate, strengths-based approach that honors each client's story, identity, and lived experience. As a Black Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I understand the importance of creating spaces where clients feel seen, valued, and understood without having to explain or minimize their experiences. My goal is not only to help you navigate life's challenges, but to help you reconnect with your strengths, build resilience, and recognize your own capacity for healing and growth. You do not have to carry it all by yourself.
