Hello! My name is Candis and I applaud you for taking the steps to help yourself grow. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Tennessee. I have over 10 years’ experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in a few different settings including residential, partial care, and in a church setting. I have the most experience working with depression, anxiety, family/relationship conflicts, codependency, and couples counseling. My passion to help others in their quest for mental health stems from my personal experience with it. I grew up with watching those around me struggle with mental health issues but never seeking help or even acknowledging the need for it. I know firsthand that getting help can be a challenge. There is still so much stigma around having mental health issues, the process for getting help can be overwhelming, and it can feel so frustrating and lonely. However, I also know from experience how much life can change for the better when you find support and take steps towards taking care of yourself!  I use a person-centered, multicultural, and integrative approach in treatment. This means I begin where you are and tailor the treatment approach to your needs while being sensitive to how your individual cultural identities and lifestyle choices impact your experience. I primarily use evidence based techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling. I would describe my style as warm and supportive, and I am ready to help you discover ways to move forward as a more healthy you. Team work is important - together we can work on establishing concrete goals and steps for you to help overcome your current problems. I like to celebrate small wins and know that progress is progress no matter how slow. Thank you again for taking time in learning more about me.

I work with individuals, couples, and families who are ready for something different. They have spent hours analyzing the problem on their own, and they are open to professional help. I have spent over a decade studying and practicing how to create change. I offer therapy that is built upon a conversation that helps - one that is focused on discovering solutions. I don’t believe we have to talk at length about the problem in order to make change happen. Hasn’t the problem taken enough of your time and energy? We will start day one of therapy working towards finding the change you desire. I am trained as a marriage and family therapist, which is a field of therapy that works with one person or multiple people in the therapy room. This means I am qualified to address problems from a larger perspective than just focusing on you alone. Because you are not the problem - the problem is the problem.

Hi! My name is Shara Trumbull, and I am a LCSW with over 20 years of experience. I have worked in a variety of settings: hospitals, medical offices, health departments, and integrated care. I have also enjoyed teaching about mental health and trauma in my community and abroad as well as teaching a Psychology course at a local homeschool cooperative. I have counseled a wide variety of clients with issues ranging from mild adjustment issues to severe mental illness such as schizophrenia. I love working with women and helping them walk through infidelity and infertility, depression and anxiety. I have enjoyed working with all of my clients who have a desire to achieve joy no matter what robbed them of that—especially trauma. Listening is a lost art, and my greatest desire is to listen, engage, and walk alongside others in their journey. It takes courage to ask for help and tell someone your story. My hope is that you can find not only peace but also joy in the midst of often stormy, unchangeable, and uncertain circumstances.

Why did you decide to become a counselor? I have always found that making connections with others is what drives change. I want to be able to provide others with that connection to help them find the best version of themselves and to help them through challenging situations in their lives. With my own personal experiences in my childhood, my goal has always been to help others overcome their circumstances, to show them they are not limited by their experiences and trauma. What would you say to a potential client? *This world is full of things and situations that make us feel powerless and not in charge of out own lives. My philosophy, and what drives my approach to therapy, is about learning to take control over yourself despite what is going on around you, or what has happened to you. You are the ultimate driver in your life, you find power within yourself. How does your personality influence your approach to therapy? *I am a no nonsense, down to Earth individual. I feel that I am straight forward and that helps me challenge clients to address the most difficult areas in their lives, the areas in which that hold them back from their full potential. I also believe that education is key, understanding how the brain works and how trauma affects the brain, it’s about using these concepts to help drive change. Brief description of Work Experience? *I did my internship at a Domestic Violence shelter for women and children as well as therapeutic day counseling in school settings. I have worked the past 7 years in residential treatment, 1 year doing outpatient, specializing in kids and teens with complex and severe trauma. I have worked extensively with self-harm, suicidal ideations, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, anger, aggression, defiance/conduct, family conflict, sexualized behaviors, trauma (sexual, physical, neglect, mental/psychological). I currently work outpatient therapy seeing both adults and children. Brief description of Education background? *BS in Pre-med Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology from Bluefield College in 2012 *M.Ed. In Human Services and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lindsey Wilson College in 2015 My modalities include, but are not limited to, TF-CBT, Client Centered, Solution Focused, Motivational Interviewing, DBT. I do not believe in a one size fits all therapy approach and try to cater my therapies to the need of the client. Hi, I’m Stacy Park. I’m a licensed therapist working in Knoxville, TN. I consider myself very fortunate to be in a career where I get to meet people everyday who are wanting to make improvements within themselves and/or relationships. I recognize change can be a scary, unsettling process! I’ve been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over 30 years and have had the opportunity to work with individuals, couples, and families of all ages. My experience has ranged from working in the most intense hospital setting with crisis stabilization efforts to longer term recovery in a community mental health center and some programs in between. I’ve learned to meet people where they are and to make it safe for folks to tell their story while feeling respected and not judged. I’m comfortable discussing a variety of topics including substance use concerns, grief and loss, mood disorders, trauma, anxiety, anger management growth, and relationship issues. I approach the therapy relationship with positivity, transparency and at times humor. I believe that the answers that the client is seeking usually come from inside their hearts or their heads and not from me! I’ve been fortunate to learn from wonderful people in my clinical work who had the courage to share with me a lot of different experiences, and the things that work to help them cope. Therapy is very personal and private . I believe in providing a space where everyone is treated with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. My therapy style draws from an assortment of systems including motivational, strength based and cognitive -behavioral perspectives. I will generally check messages daily Monday - Friday, a few times a day. I also do my best to respond as quickly as I can. Please understand that I will also be giving each client my attention when it is "their turn", I do appreciate your patience if I am tending to other clients! If your need is urgent, I once again want to urge you to seek the support of someone who is suited to manage crisis situations. There are a number of available crisis resources both by phone and text 24 hours a day, 7 days a week listed in crisis information. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started! I look forward to having a chance to support and empower you!
