Veronica Cavazos
Hello! My name is Veronica Cavazos and I am a licensed professional counselor. I have worked in mental health for the past 14 years and have practiced as a therapist for 7. My experience in mental health has primarily been with community health clinics, however I did spend some time as a therapist in a local psychiatric hospital. I am trained and certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and find it to be the most helpful and useful when working with patients of all ages. The goal-oriented approach of CBT helps to keep individuals focused on what they want to achieve. The approach is not just about how we feel but how we think; directing those negative thoughts in a direction where we can achieve a goal can be empowering. I find having useful tools and handouts helps individuals see their struggles a little more clearly. This can help them to focus on areas of improvement and catching where they can redirect themselves. The strategies of CBT which I find most helpful include, identification, practice of skills and techniques, setting attainable goals, and problem solving. Strategies that can be used even after therapy has been completed. For me CBT is most useful because it can be utilized as a short-term therapy approach and it is structured; helpful to therapist and clients. In my years of working in the field the age range I have worked with spans from a child as young as 3 and the parents to individuals of the elderly age. Although I enjoy working with individuals of all ages, I feeling I am most comfortable with teen to adult aged individuals. The issues I have experience working with include depression, anxiety, relationship and marriage issues, parenting issues, career challenges and trauma. I consider myself to be a caring person as is my approach and style with counseling. CBT allow for the patient and the therapist to work together and I feels it allow us to get to know each other as well. I don't present to be all knowing and like to share experiences and techniques that have helped me along the way in my journey. My goal is to help you recognize your strengths to allow you to see how to over come your difficulties. It takes courage to ask for help and sometimes more to look for it. I praise you for reaching out and I hope we can work together to achieve your goals. CBT is a team effort, I hope as a team we can make positive things happen. My current availability is Friday, Saturday and Monday from 9am - 1pm. Would you like to schedule an appointment?
Dr. Shaji Daniel
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Texas and A National Certified Counselor (NCC), dedicated to providing exceptional care and counseling for individuals and families dealing with various spiritual, emotional, and mental health issues. I earned my Ph.D. in counseling from the University of Cumberlands, KY, after completing the Master of Education in Professional Counseling from the University of Houston-Victoria. I also hold my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Theology. With years of professional counseling experience as a counselor, pastor, and counselor educator, I have learned that physical and mental healing can be aided by a strong positive mind and trust in God. I am an interactive and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Counselor. I also adopt interventions from Solution Focused Brief Therapy to help clients find meaning and hope in their life. My approach in counseling is to collaboratively develop strategies that help the clients overcome their mental hurdles, effectively address personal life challenges, build their strength, and attain personal growth. I help clients identify maladaptive, dysfunctional thoughts and replace them with more functional and positive thoughts through cognitive restructuring interventions and reflection of thoughts, feelings, and meanings. I work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, Spiritual, cultural, and relational issues, and other mental health disorders.
Shirley Currier
I became interested in counseling through my own recovery from addiction. Thirty -four years ago, with seven years in my own recovery, I became a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. I worked in the office of a psychiatrist as a counselor for his patients with addictions. I soon realized that in many cases the addiction and abuse of substances was a symptom of other mental and psychological problems. So in 2000 I went back to school for a Masters in Clinical Psychology. I have worked in physician's offices, non profit agencies, day treatment programs, and with the courts in Harris County in diversion programs with offenders. I am experienced in many approaches, cognitive-behavioral, psycho-dynamic, solution focused and trauma recovery. I view my clients as experts about their problem based struggles and simply offer my experience and knowledge in working to find a path to recovery together. I am accepting of different life-style choices and a liberal thinker. If you are ready to begin your journey, I would be honored to accompany you.
Dr. Michelle Davis
I am a professional counselor, certified executive, and health coach. I have nine years of experience helping others overcome challenges and create purposeful, meaningful lives. I have worked with clients with various concerns, including chronic pain, chronic illness, stress, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship issues, family problems, and career challenges. Many individuals I have worked with have had traumatic experiences. As a counselor and coach, one of my greatest strengths includes noticing and appreciating each person's unique characteristics. I do not treat everyone using the same approach because each person's response to stress, motivation to change, decision-making, relationship-building, and thinking styles are unique. As a result, I customize my approach accordingly. I draw from my extensive training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Neuroscience, Motivational Interviewing, Positive (Strengths-based) Psychology, Mind-Body Medicine, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to draw out the best in you. I view the therapeutic environment as a safe place to explore relationships, whether those relationships are with people (family, co-workers, partners) or things (food or money). I also believe an important part of therapy is addressing the social, economic, and cultural influences on a person and that the therapy process should be collaborative, with the client seen as the “expert” on their life. It takes great courage to take the first steps toward change, seek a more fulfilling and happier life, and determine your personal goals. But, if you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you on this journey to create your best life. I look forward to working with you!

Adrianne Beach
You found my page, so you must be looking for someone to help you navigate the stormy seas of life. Perhaps you have experienced trauma or an event in your life you just can't seem to 'get over.' Perhaps you feel ashamed, depressed, anxious, disconnected, or stuck. My passion is to help people just like you - people who want to move forward in their journey toward hope and healing. You have courageously taken the first step, and I would be honored to walk along side you as you progress in your journey. I want to help you learn to connect with others and yourself in a way that moves you forward and motivates you to create the life you envision, and begin to heal the things in your life that have led to feeling disconnected. This can take a variety of strategies and techniques, but they all start with a foundation of feeling heard and understood. The counseling relationship is the basis by which you begin to experience greater connection with others and yourself. For some, a specific technique or "theory" is important; however, for most, it is knowing that the person with whom you work cares and is able to make that connection with you. I have my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia. I have experience working with a vast number of mental health concerns and diagnoses, but I am passionate about helping people reconnect with themselves, others, and resolve any trauma (or events, attitudes, behaviors, or beliefs) that may hinder someone from true authenticity and the ability to connect.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Aubrey counselor?
Before seeing your Aubrey therapist, prep for your session by reading to understand the therapy process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, let them know if you have any concerns about therapy or feel unsure about what to talk about. They may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn why you're attending therapy in Aubrey.
Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?
Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what therapy entails. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback and advice from a therapist. A Aubrey licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.
Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find through therapy with a Aubrey counselor can be dependent on your process.
People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.
Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?
Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. A psychologist can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based psychologist in Aubrey, Texas can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?
The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
