Jonathan Richard
Hello! My name is Jon Richard, LPC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who works in Austin, Texas. After graduating from the Masters of Arts in Counseling (MAC) program at St. Edward's University, I completed an internship at Capital Area Counseling (CAC) which is the most rewarding chapter of my adult life. At CAC, I discovered my therapeutic "voice" while counseling a diverse sample of the population (those who suffered from addiction, gender dysphoria, divorce, the harsh realities of youth and middle age). By "therapeutic voice" I mean that a person-centered approach was congruent with my easy-going personality. I felt more authentic with clients when we engaged in a loose, organic conversations (sometimes informed by cognitive behavioral therapy). Since that time, I have gravitated toward Solution Focused Brief Therapy (though I cannot market myself as an official SFBT therapist). I find SFBT to be particularly liberating because it leads with inspiring the client by asking them about their desired outcome. Once I learn what difference you would like to notice in yourself, my line of questions will focus on your previous experience with happiness/success. The more vividly you can describe your history with the desired outcome, the more possible it seems. The popular saying amongst SFBT experts like Elliott Connie, MA, LPC is "It's simple, but it's not easy". I cannot promise "easy", but I will say that the journey will be meaningful and invigorating.

Chris Goetz
My initial training as a therapist was in premarital and marriage counseling, a vital part of my practice that to this day I enjoy very much. I have approximately 20 years of experience and am licensed in the state of Texas. In addition to counseling couples, I have also worked with persons coming out of the sex industry. It is my passion to work with those who struggle with severe trauma and emotional abuse, as well as major depressive disorders, bipolar I & II, schizoaffective, co-occurring and substance abuse disorders. I have a great deal of experience working with dissociative, borderline and personality disorders. I am well-versed and extremely comfortable working with persons of different cultures. My motto is, “reveal the root, expose the lie and heal the wounded spirit.” I utilize a trauma-informed, person-centered, psychodynamic approach in therapy and often incorporate CBT, DBT and mindfulness techniques. I strive to meet the unique and individual needs of each client and adjust my approach accordingly. I am a certified revisioning practitioner, a technique that simulates re-attachment for grief resolution and ego-integration and am certified by the FBI National Academy in resiliency training. I also enjoy training local police departments throughout the Metroplex in critical incident and mental health orientation trainings. Online therapy and in-person therapy both connect you with a licensed professional, and the main difference is how you meet.
