Yvonne Heim
Hi, My name is Yvonne Heim, a Licensed Professional Counselor with the state of Texas. I have been a counselor for close to fifteen years. I have a master’s degree in psychology with a specialty in addiction and a master’s degree in human services with a specialty in mental health counseling. My approach to helping clients is I understand every client is different as are the problems they present with and one size does not fit all when it comes to helping clients. There are a variety of theories and techniques to assist clients in reaching his or her goals but, Person Centered Therapy along with Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) has worked well for me in treating clients. I want clients to feel comfortable working with me and me with him or her. More importantly, I want a client to leave a session feeling like he or she was heard, and the problems, issues, and goals were the focus of the session. During sessions, clients should feel comfortable sharing and asking questions and not feel judged in any way. Person Centered Therapy is ideal for accomplishing those things. I also believe one's thoughts greatly impact one's mood, emotional well-being, and behavior. Teaching clients how to overcome many of his or her negative thinking patterns is extremely helpful and utilizing DBT can be beneficial in assisting a client to achieve peace within while working on problems and overcoming problems through emotion regulation and mindfulness. Whether it is depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, or some other mental health issue, I will assist and support clients as they work in either overcoming the problem or learn to manage issues more effectively. I am a compassionate and caring counselor and a good listener. I know firsthand how important it is to have a good counselor because I have experienced trauma, grief, and a host of other emotions and symptoms as a result of my trauma. I reached out for a counselor and for me, the counselor I worked with made all the difference in overcoming my life challenges.

I see beauty in everything and believe in strengths in clients. I want you to know that no matter what happened in the past or what is going on in your life, you have every right to be happy and you are going to find it. My approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Mindfulness-based and Spiritual. My view of therapy is finding “Truth, "about life, human nature, relationship, human condition, generational cycle, upbringing,...etc., which will help you understand them deeply, gain insight, and ultimately "set you free" from anxiety, panic attacks, depression, and/or stress, overall free from human suffering. Furthermore, therapy is nurturing “inner world,” recognizing you are not just “Thoughts,” “Emotions,” “Body,” but much more beyond, above, infinite, timeless, formless, and eternal “Being” with “Soul” and “Spirit” which is the essence of who you are, “Perfect,” “Complete,” “Whole,” “Original,” and “Enough." Therapy is the journey to realize the essence of who you are as a human being not as a human doing, practice being in the present moment to live not at the mercy of external world, eventually living with inner joy, freedom, integrity, and peace.

Together, we’ll focus on helping you feel more grounded, more confident in yourself, and more at ease in your relationships.
