Tiffany Thornton
Excelling as a nontraditional learner, I graduated from the University of Phoenix-AZ majoring in Psychology and received her Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University-MN and is currently pursuing her Ph.D in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior fro Capella University- MN. Tiffany learned how to balance many aspects of life from being a single parent, working full-time while pursing her degrees online to the changing roles of becoming a blended family. These nontraditional roles have helped to create meaning and shared experience with clients as our roles are often changing, unexpectedly at times. While we are the experts of our own lives it is my goal to help clients balance the many challenges of life by providing a supportive and nonjudgmental environment utilizing a multi-systems approach to therapy that is as unique as each client. I have completed Level 1 of the Gottman method of couples therapy, Ienjoys working with couples to enhance and/or improve their relationships by providing a way for couples to become more in tune with themselves and each other. I take pride in working as an ally to the LGBTQ community to help overcome the challenges of being part of a marginalized population in order to affirm who you are, as a person, as well do my part to educate others.

Carolyn (Lyn) Beyer
Hello…and thank you for taking that difficult first step by viewing my profile! My name is Lyn and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Wisconsin. During my 23 years of clinical practice, I have worked with a variety of clients presenting with issues from depression and anxiety to childhood neglect/abuse, PTSD and grief. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, my expertise is working with individuals who experience trauma in their lives. What is trauma? "Trauma is the psychological, emotional (and physical) response to an event or an experience that is deeply distressing or disturbing to the individual." Sometimes trauma is related to just one event, such as losing your house in a fire or the sudden loss of a loved one. Other times, trauma can cast a long shadow over our lives, such as childhood abuse or prolonged exposure to events out of our control. My therapeutic approach stems from the core belief you are the expert of your own life and our time together is a partnership. My role as therapist is to guide, assist and occasionally challenge you in that healing process. My style is grounded in Client-Centered and Humanistic models though I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I am comfortable using many adjunctive therapies, as well. Personally, I am a mother, grandmother, yoga enthusiast, hiker, friend, sister, retired Director and active therapist. I am honest, compassionate, progressive and disciplined. I am recently semi-retired though I love this work and that is how I found BetterHelp. My years of experience have shown me the relationship between therapist and client is the key to therapeutic success. If you don’t like your therapist, you won’t do the work. So, I am honored you might consider trusting me as a partner in your journey. “Today I Chose Courage over Comfort” – Brene Brown

I am a licensed clinical social worker in Minnesota with over 30 years of experience working with kids, young adults, parents, and families, most of whom have been involved in child welfare service systems. I have experience helping adults and kids who are struggling with issues of safety, meeting basic needs, activities of daily living, parenting, or needing connections to their community. I am also especially adept at helping teens and young people transitioning into adulthood plan for their futures regardless of their previous experiences. I have been a college professor for over ten years and help people of any age who are looking at higher education options or struggling to meet personal, social, and educational requirements in college situations. As a helper, I focus on treating everyone with dignity and worth, and listen nonjudgmentally regardless of the situation. I try hard to really understand the person as well as the context within which their problems exist. I primarily use solution focused and cognitive behavioral therapy methods. Most importantly, interventions are tailored to what is important to the people I am working with. Every session ends with a plan to take a step forward and create long term changes.
