Do you feel overwhelmed or lonely? Maybe you just have day -to- day problems or you may have been dealing with mental health problems for a long time. Let’s get together and talk. You may find that this is a valuable way of getting a new perspective of yourself, or a way of motivating to do something different, or make changes that you never thought you could make with feelings of anxiety or depression. You want to feel better about yourself. I love making life easier for individuals of all ages and have been achieving that gratifying result for 19 years through the good graces of a grant-based agency, specializing in the care for victims of crimes. Working with the full range of life experiences for individuals, families, couples, adolescents, and children is needed in these times of change and uncertainty more than ever when life’s path does not seem so clear. I graduated in 1994 with a Psychology degree in 1994 from University of Houston, Central Campus. After working for a year in a half as a psychiatric technician in a psychiatric hospital, the desire to further my education became an imperative and I received my Masters in Counseling from the University of Houston, Clearlake in 2003, all the while gaining actual on-the-job personal experience working as a school counselor. If you like upbeat and positive dispositions, the cheerful attitude alone could give you a hopeful outlook. If you would like a committed therapist who will care about you, listen patiently while give you space to tell your story, then I may just be the one you are looking for. The areas of my expertise include relationship losses, intimacy issues, adjustment disorders, job related stress, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, depression and anxiety, family conflict, grief and loss, children behavioral issues, mood disorders, anger management, substance abuse, and helping victims of crime. As an example of my therapy techniques, for anger management, I incorporate a three-fold approach. Walk away or brush it off, apologize, or quit getting mad about the same things you get mad about. Your success does not happen overnight. It may take many weeks of practice, but in the end, you will get very good in your responses to anger, becoming skilled in assertive methods for subduing anger and relieving any stress. Working together to gather your history, understand your present problem, and getting to know your value system and the priorities you have in dealing with your issues is key to therapy. Sometimes a client just needs to be empowered with good listening skills from a therapist or receive positive reinforcement, maybe just be understood and wanting their feelings validated. Whichever approach we decide upon, all make our relationship worthwhile for me to walk the journey of life with a person, to unlock doors of awareness and understanding, help them walk through to reach rewards of a fuller life, enrich themselves to feel more alive, enjoy this world free of pain or suffering. SPECIALTIES: Depression, Anxiety, Stress, PTSD Crisis intervention Anger management Relationship and intimacy Issues Family conflicts Victims of Crime Other Areas of Experience: Child abuse, Victims of sexual crimes, Eating disorders, Sleep disorders, Domestic violence, Bipolar disorder, ADHD, OCD, Substance abuse, Divorce and custody issues, Grief and loss, Work Related Problems, Marital Conflicts, Living in Today's World with day to day problems. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes that to have a successful outcome in therapy, the client and therapist must first build a strong rapport. Once that foundation is laid, I will use one of several therapeutic modalities, depending on the issue at hand. These modalities may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and Psychotherapy. An Integrated approach can be utilized as well. I have my Master's in Social Work, the advanced clinical License for LCSW, and recently I achieved the goal of becoming a Certified Dementia Specialist. I have worked in many modalities. Individual Therapy, Medical/Surgical, High-Risk pregnancy and miscarriages, Inpatient Psychiatric help, and Rehab. My husband and I have moved 11 times, so each job was a new learning adventure, and the stress of moving and helping children adjust something I well understand. Some of my strengths are being a good listener, caring, sensitive, and energetic. Not only do I have the necessary credentials, experience, and hours to be licensed, but I also has a lifetime of experience and wisdom to draw from, which is invaluable! Lately, I have been working with caregivers that are taking care of their elderly parents and their children, while trying to have a life. It's a tough job! There are other areas that are prevalent now: such as your expectations of yourself: For example, "All my friends are married and having kids and I'm not, I feel alone". Another common one is, "my kids have left home....I have lost my identity, what do I do". Lastly, a big one is " my family/friends do not approve/understand of my partner/career choice/lifestyle/choice". Each one of these have taken prominence in our culture in the last 15 years and it can be difficult to navigate. I have heard people say that, "Your perception is your reality". What if you don't even know what that perception is? That's where we can work together. Personally I love yoga, digging in my yard, mindfulness, and University of Kentucky Basketball! 2 of my 3 kids went to UK. So Go Big Blue! Please let me know any questions or concerns and I would be happy to help. Best Regards Rebecca

“Wisdom, with nothing to hide, is available to everyone…being found in the most prominent of public places.” Hi! I’m Erin. I have been practicing in the field of Psychology and behavior health for almost 10 years. I completed my BA in Psychology (minor in Sociology) at The University of Memphis and my MA in Counseling Psychology (concentration in Trauma & Crisis) at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). I often tell people that this field chose me. I have always had a strong interest in the human mind and human behavior. Always had the question of “why” when it came to our perceptions throughout this human experience. I still search for the universal law behind everything I see. I have a strong passion for working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, and everyday life stressors. I also enjoy working youth (14-18) who are facing issues with their social-emotional skill development and behavior management. My background and experience include Individual therapy, Foster Care, Trauma & Crisis Response with inpatient and outpatient settings, ABA Therapy in Autism Day Programs for youth, Neurofeedback and FASD, and Youth Residential facilities. The client is the expert of their lives. So, I often use approaches that are all about you: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing & Mindfulness. I firmly believe that the therapeutic process should be collaborative and holistic. You are important and you can be the author in creating the life you want to live.
