Life is full of ups and downs but the true test in life is how you overcome those obstacles. My name is Riddhi Sevak-Patel and I am a Licensed Clinical Therapist. Welcome to my page, I hope that this allows you to get to know me a little better! I received my MSW back in 2010 from the University of Alabama after completing the advanced standing program specializing in Children, Adolescents and their families and graduating with honors. I have worked in all aspects of healthcare ranging from acute inpatient ICU care to out-patient rehabilitation working with children and adults alike. Outside of Better Help, I have my own virtual private practice where I work with both teenagers and adults who struggle with depression, suicidal thoughts, grief, trauma and substance abuse, to name a few. As a working mother of three, I understand the struggles faced with the "mommy burden" and can empathize towards those dealing with the anxiety that comes from "doing it all." You are not alone. My approach to therapy is mostly a humanistic approach mixed with CBT and DBT. People are a lot more resilient than they sometimes realize and I believe that we all have the ability to "find ourselves" even in the most severe circumstances. My goal is to help you realize your strengths and help you process your feeling so that you can move onto becoming a better you.

Hello! If you are exploring Better Help, it is likely that you are struggling with something significant in your life. Finding the right person to help you through these challenges is very important. If you don't have a good relationship with your counselor, you won't make the progress you are hoping to achieve. I want to provide you with some information about me in order to help you decide if my experience and style is the right match for you. I have been a social worker for more years than I care to admit! (more than 20) and have experience working with people from all different backgrounds who are struggling with a wide variety of challenges. My experience began in the Family Services arena working with challenges related to Abuse and Neglect and Foster Care and Adoption. I then transitioned into Crisis Social Work in an Inpatient Hospital Setting serving those with Serious Mental Illness and their Families. A significant part of my career has been spent with the Active Duty Military and Veteran populations. I specialized as a Trauma Therapist and have been working with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, adoption and foster care challenges and challenges of Caregiving. The feedback I receive from clients and co-workers is that they find me to be caring and nonjudgmental, and they appreciate that I am honest and direct with them. You can expect me to walk with you through whatever difficulties you are facing and help you learn more about yourself and the way you interact with the world. Currently, I have availability late in the day (ET); I can interact with you in whatever manner you are most comfortable. I find it helpful to participate in video sessions so that we can get to know each other better. I am also available to you via phone and text if that is more comfortable for you. I check messages several times during the day and will get back with you. I know how hard it can be to find a counselor with whom you feel a connection. I would be honored to work with you through this stage of your life.

I have been working in the mental health field for 6 years. I have a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology. I chose a career in mental health to assist others in maintaining a mentally healthy lifestyle. I have worked with children and adults who have symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, behavior disorders, depression, parenting problems, social issues, and more. I also work with military service members and their families when experiencing challenging times. My counseling style is warm and engaging. My treatment approach is that of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). However, every client is different; therefore, each treatment plan is tailored to accommodate the individual client's needs. I believe that it is important for individuals to understand the root of their issues and understand methods to recognize triggers, provide coping strategies, and allow them to see how their perspectives shape their view of the world. When changing their view, they positively change their behaviors. Whether you seek change for a healthier, happier life or need a non-judgmental party, I am here to support and empower you. My name is Dorothy: I have been a counselor /therapist for over 40 years. Twenty-Five years of my career has been in acute care hospitals. I dealt daily with, grief trauma, suicide and life changing illnesses. My critical thinking skills are finely tuned to help a patient or client process and take care of their family and selves at the most tragic times in their lives. Within these tragic situations, I have been able to assist and help clients find a path to go forward. In less stressful situations, I have used motivational interviewing to help a client within very chaotic situations not only move forward, but also to create goals for their lives and plans to achieve those goals. I have worked with Military families and children . I have worked for 2 years in a school-based homeless program providing meals, counseling, home visits and resources for families facing many challenges. I have coordinated with schools, courts and child protective services to help families remain together and focused on what they need to do to keep their families together in the most difficult of times. I have provided couples counseling, family counseling and groups. I have taught parenting skills while learning the most useful lessons from the parents themselves. Often my primary tool for family intervention is Systems theory. This theory is based on family and individual strengths. It basically theorizes that if a direct approach to change in a family doesn't work then another less obvious problem solving approach might work. Or that working on a positive change in another part of a client's world, might positively impact what can the desired change through a less direct route. This in turn may cause a ripple effect of other that impacts the entire family in a positive yet productive way. This method of intervention recognizes that families ultimately provide love and care as their roots of growth and nurture in a family. I trust the family process to produce the best results for a family. I work hard to help you or your family in any compassionate way that I can while always keeping in focus the safety and well being of the family and the children. I always expect and realize that families are working even harder at these goals than I am. We are a team . Sometimes only brief supportive interventions are helpful Other times, depending upon where the family is in its process, more intense interventions are appropriate. My intent in any dynamic is to be of service to you and your family. I listen to the verbal, spiritual energy of the family and attempt to participate in the family "flow " and help to continue to guide it in a positive direction. Often these goals are very do-able. If I can't be helpful, I will certainly guide your family to someone who can be helpful. I look forward to working with you as much as you may need. Thank you.
