Charles Quinn
Hi, my name is Dr. Charles Quinn. I am a retired military soldier and a Licensed Professional Counselor. I served in the military for 25 years and have been in the field of counseling for over fifteen years. I have had great opportunities working with clients with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, grief and loss, past traumatic experiences, conflict resolution, self-injury, bullying, and others issues. The modalities that I incorporate include within my sessions are Cognitive-Behavioral, Dialectical Behavior, Emotion Focused, Solution-Focused, and Trust-Based Relational Intervention. It is important to meet the client where they are and tailor a specific program that addresses their unique concerns and needs. I practice from a perspective of compassion, acceptance, and building trust. It takes courage to journey through the counseling process, and I recognize the challenges of change. Psychotherapy can be very enlightening and rewarding. It is my mission that my clients feel safe, secure, not judged, and accepted as we begin to work together. I am committed to creating an environment that fosters truth without fear, security with safety, and hope in an otherwise hopeless situation. Let's begin this journey together.

Hello. If you are looking at therapist profiles it is likely that you are coping with something significant in your life. It is important to find a counselor you think would be a good fit for you and able to understand and help. I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker in Missouri with 20 years of experience. And, I have a broad range of professional interests, experience and professional expertise. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend several years in South America working with children who have medical needs. And I became involved with indigenous peoples struggles and women’s issues while there. After returning to the US, I coordinated a bilingual domestic violence program for Spanish speaking women in collaboration with the Catholic church . Among other people I have worked with are: court-referred clients, EAP professionals and people with disabilities. I also have a strong interest in spirituality and it’s role in health and healing. I was fortunate to be able to participate as a therapist in a study measuring the benefits of religious beliefs in the treatment of trauma survivors. I was also invited to visit a Buddhist ashram in New England where I was able to learn more about meditation, nutrition and other practices. I believe that spirituality can be an integral part of a person’s healing and development and I take a holistic approach in my work. My counseling style is friendly and compassionate. I can talk with you using a combination of text, phone and video depending upon what we decide. I feel honored to be a part of your journey.

Along with my Master's of Science degree in Counseling Psychology, I have a post-master’s veteran behavioral health certificate. Over the past 8 years, I have worked across a wide spectrum of clients. I have experience with anxiety, depression, bipolar, substance use disorders, anger management, family conflict, crisis intervention, goal setting, and with clients just wanting to optimize their mental health. My personal approach to therapy is to create a partnership with a client working towards the goals the client wants to achieve. From the first conversation until the end, I maintain unconditional positive regard towards my clients. I believe therapy can be both about coping skills and achieving goals, but also about the process of discovering yourself through talk therapy. I utilize cognitive-behavioral approaches, dialectical behavioral techniques, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques depending on individual needs of clients.

This can help if your schedule is full, if travel is difficult, or if you simply prefer a more discreet setting. You can learn more about what a therapist does on the therapist role page.

Online therapy vs. in-person therapy in Missouri
Online therapy and in-person therapy both connect you with a licensed professional, and the main difference is how you meet. In Missouri, online therapy through BetterHelp lets you have sessions by phone, video, or in-app messaging, so you can meet from home or on a schedule that fits your life. In-person therapy takes place at an office and may involve travel and set appointment windows. Both formats can support meaningful progress, so the right choice often comes down to what fits your life.
