Joyce Graham
Hi! My name is Joyce A. Graham. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I completed my Master's Degree in Community Counseling at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. I currently have a private practice in Missouri where my counseling specialties include issues involving depression; grief/loss; stress; and PTSD. The interpersonal strengths that I bring to the counseling profession are compassion, a genuine concern for the welfare of others, and Christian integrity. I know, personally, what it means to face adversity and I have a passionate desire to see others overcome the struggles, pain, and disappointments of life. Counseling is my passion! My counseling style is eclectic which means that I believe that the therapeutic process should be tailored to address the individual concerns of the client. I love walking along side people as they work through life challenges. I am here to provide a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment. I want to assure you that anything you share with me will be held in the strictest of confidence and your privacy is protected. On a personal note, I have been married for 42 years and am the mother of 3 grown children; 2 daughters and 1 son. If you want to know more about me, please feel free to ask. I commend you for reaching out for counseling. Having someone to talk to makes it easier to process our feelings. I believe that you and I working together can begin addressing your concerns and work towards processing any challenges or obstacles to your success. I look forward to communicating with you soon!

I am a professional counselor licensed in the state of Missouri, with about nine years of experience, and over a decade and a half of experience working with addiction and mental health. I have worked with a range of clients, from children to elderly, who have come to me for a variety of issues, including anxiety and stress, depression, relationship issues, addiction, and lack of motivation. Seeking this change can be a daunting task, but I am here to help support you in your success. My counseling style is rather eclectic, based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, with strong influences from Motivational Interviewing, IFS, Solution Focused techniques, and existential psychotherapy. I look forward to working with you!

I’m Brenda Swift. When I’m not working, I like to take my dog for long walks in various parks and binge watch shows. I also look forward to the reading challenges offered through the library, because it forces me to make time to read at least 20 minutes. I have a passion for working with clients having difficulty navigating life’s situations and wanting to hide from society, I help clients who have stress and anxiety, relationship issues, need to cope with grief and loss, & depression. I understand what it’s like to struggle in life, because life has not been easy for me. Steven Forsyth
I began my addictions counseling career six years after entering recovery from alcohol/drug use, on 5/13/1982. My original counseling schooling was in Rational Emotive Therapy, which evolved into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and led to my schooling in Narrative Therapy and Transactional Analysis. Most recently, I have become interested in Miller & Rollnick's Motivational Interviewing, Prochaska & Diclemente's Stages of Change model of behavior change, Berg & Miller's Solution-Focused Therapy, Marlatt & Donovan's relapse prevention strategies and techniques, ACT therapy, and Internal Family Systems therapy. My most recent Certification is in Robin Shapiro's Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing-EMDR-, through the EMDRIA International Institute in November of 2021. As a Therapist, I necessarily became conversant in telehealth methodology during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. I approach counseling holistically: I understand individuals as "whole cloth", i.e., as the current product(s) of their total life experiences. I also firmly believe in all-ways maintaining a positively enthusiastic outlook on life and living!

Why work with a licensed therapist near you?

In Missouri, online therapy can make that care more accessible, since sessions happen from home or wherever you are, without the need to travel to an office. This can help if your schedule is full, if travel is difficult, or if you simply prefer a more discreet setting. You can learn more about what a therapist does on the therapist role page.

Online therapy vs. in-person therapy in Missouri
Online therapy and in-person therapy both connect you with a licensed professional, and the main difference is how you meet. In-person therapy takes place at an office and may involve travel and set appointment windows.
