Hi Friend, This is a little about me. First and foremost I am a regular and down-to-earth guy. At times Counseling professionals and other helping professionals can can get reputations to "high and mighty", "up on a pedestal", or 'holier than thou". I am a regular 40 year old man who is balding and slightly overweight. I have made mistakes in my life as I'm sure you have. I do not have a magic wand to make your life better in a hurry. What I do have is an open ear, a caring heart, a good education, and about 15 years in counseling a wide variety of people and issues. Of these the most common issues I have helped others with are overcoming symptoms of depression, anxiety, addiction, and common family issues. As I mentioned earlier there is no magic to what I do but we can work toward goals and talk it out.

As a Transpersonal Psychotherapist, and fundamentally Client-Centered, I believe in an inherent tendency and ability for people to grow and learn about themselves and the world around them. I also believe each one of us has an inner wisdom to tap into. A client is encouraged to boldly explore their own thoughts and emotions in a safe, warm and collaborative therapeutic environment and find new solutions, skills, insight and awareness around life's challenges, both within the person and the persons' life experience. I meet you where you are at, conforming my therapeutic approach to your presenting needs, and encouraging you to be as active in your own therapeutic process as possible. I may be active in my intervention as deemed useful by both the client and presenting concerns, including giving suggestions, interpretations, challenging, facilitating self-empowering therapeutic hypnosis, creative expression/arts, journaling, meditation training to include mindfulness training, dream exploration, CBT/DBT, and occasionally suggesting homework. I also recognize the value in meeting basic human needs for psychological health, providing access assistance to resources as needed, and as able. I generally work with folks who complain of depression, anxiety, grief and loss, stress management, anger management, trauma/PTSD, interpersonal conflict, parenting challenges, spiritual challenges, frustration tolerance, and some health challenges to include nicotine addiction. ***Please note: I keep strict office hours, and am not available for after-hours messaging. My practice hours are 9am - 5pm Tuesday - Friday. I generally can respond at least once per morning and once per afternoon during those office hours, sometimes more! You can also book a live session with me ahead of time. ***Please remember that BetterHelp (or specialty site!) is not appropriate if you are in crisis or in immediate need of support. In crisis situations, please call 911 or local emergency services. You can also call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) to talk to someone right away!

I am a marriage and family therapist with 9 years of experience counseling a wide range of clients. I have worked with clients on grief and loss, depression and anxiety as well as substance abuse concerns. I take a warm approach with clients and use a client centered approach to therapy. I have been trained in cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy and approach the sessions in a collaborative manner always working together with people I am working with. I respect that you took this step to seek out a listening ear and I look forward to working together with you on this journey. I was born in New York and as a young child my family moved out to Los Angeles and I have been here ever since. Growing up I was always fascinated by the field of psychology and when I was going for my Bachelors Degree I therefore choose to major in psychology. I attended Touro College Los Angeles for my Bachelors degree and then pursued my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy through Touro University Worldwide. When working with clients I take a warm and empathetic approach and really try to hear what the client is saying. Therapy can be very rewarding but it is often challenging to talk about the difficulties that we face. In session I strive to create a supportive and safe space where we can work together mindfully and without judgement to increase wellness. Thank you for taking the time to look over my profile. I look forward to working together!

You're ready to actually do something different. You've probably tried therapy before. Maybe it helped for a bit, but something was missing. Or maybe you spent months talking in circles without any real change. I work differently. I'm direct, a little weird, and allergic to therapy BS. If you want someone to just validate you endlessly without challenge, I'm not your person. But if you're ready to take an honest look at yourself, try new perspectives, and actually make moves? We'll work well together. I'm especially good with people who: - Know they want something different but keep getting stuck on "what now?" - Feel like they're constantly choosing between being authentic and connecting with others - Are tired of surface-level conversations and want to dig into real solutions - Have a low tolerance for fluff and want therapy that actually goes somewhere - Are action-oriented and willing to experiment What you should know: I've spent 15+ years working with everything from addiction to severe mental health crises to everyday relationship and life challenges. I bring addictions counseling training (LAC) along with my clinical license, which means I understand how people actually change - not just in theory. My approach: We figure out what's actually blocking you, we try things, we adjust based on what works. I'm going to ask you to look at hard truths sometimes. I'm also going to help you see your own strengths and possibilities you might not have considered. Practical details: - Available Tuesday-Thursday, 9am-4pm Mountain Time - I respond to messages outside these hours as I'm able - Licensed in Washington, Montana, and Maine If you're ready to move forward instead of just talking about moving forward, let's work together.

Michael Green
As a licensed therapist in Washington with over three decades of professional experience, I specialize in supporting individuals who are navigating complex life transitions. I offer a client centered, compassionate and affirming approach across diverse backgrounds. I’m psychodynamically-oriented, rather than cognitive behaviorally oriented. If you aren't familiar with these terms, please Google them. If you work with me, we'll be exploring what's happening under the hood, meaning we'll be talking about feelings and defenses you may not be fully conscious of, along with the unfinished business from your past and how it affects your life in the present. I have extensive expertise in addressing the effects of isolation, helping clients with relationship and intimacy issues, navigating the grief process, midlife transitions, focus and memory issues, ethnic minority issues, sexual/gender issues (GLBTQ+) and the perfect storms/existential crises accruing to our moment. My approach to therapy is to provide a supportive, non-judgmental environment where clients can explore their authentic selves as they work through conflicts and challenging emotions. Along the way, we'll be identifying strategies through which, hopefully, you will feel more centered and more whole. It's a process, however, not a destination point. You're not a widget. You're not a product. You're not a version. Therapy with me not like going to a Chinese restaurant where you can order-up the best version of yourself while rejecting all the other versions through rational thinking, ego and volition. I approach things very differently. My approach is deeply respectful of all the various versions, along with the full-range of a client's experiences, feelings and emotions.
